If what we saw was a 'deluxe' room - i hate to think what the regular room was like.
The whole building feels like an old 1950's school building. The room was dirty - everything from the bedspreads to the headboards to the chairs and other furniture.
Two single beds rather than a double.
A gap under the door.
Gross.
Its not on trip advisor - but directly across the road is the hotel J.S Residency. For 1000Rs more you get a modern room which is acceptably clean. It's brand new (open 1 month at time of writing - Nov 2011) and so after ironing out a few hitches will be good.

“Good for short stay”
I stayed at Daimond Hotel for 2 days. The best thing is the location. It is very much in thecentre of teh old city and places like Ganga ghat, Sankat mochan Temple and BHU are very close to it. The room tariff is bit on higher side compared to the facilities...........but rooms are large and cleanliness is also good.
Room Tip: There is not much of difference but the ones away from the main road are more peaceful.

“Good place”
A modern Hotel having good rooms, nice ameneties. Restaurant is good and serves varied cusine. Rooms are moderately priced. In the center of town. Located in a convenient place. Quiet environment. Courteous staff.

“kashi - the resplendent one!!”
the diamond hotel is a centrally located spartan property that gives value for money. no frills but no cause for complaint either. earlier trip stayed at the plush radisson which is so far out it wastes half your daty getting into the city. we stayed at the diamond for the sankatmochan music festival and it was great as all the musicians were staying there too!!
