Recently, thirteen members of of my family, ranging in ages from 8 to 80, showed up on December 25th, as scheduled, to Hotel Amar. We had a voucher confirming our bookings at the hotel, through Cox and King, our travel agents. Much to our horror, they told us that they had no rooms for us there. They sat us in their lobby, while 'looking into the problem'. When confronted about how such an error could happen, Mr. Verma was slippery and avoidant. "it is complicated", was all he could say. He promised to put us in a hotel 'of par' and sent us to Hotel Satyam where the linen was soiled, the toilets were clogged and the rooms were filthy and the heating was inadequate.we had a misearable experience in this hotel due to the fact that hotel amar gave our rooms to some other people even though we had been booked there as per our travel agent.

Positives:-

4> Excellent bathroom
5> Good Restaurant
6> Complimentary Breakfast was good
Negatives:-
1> Cockroach in the bed
2> Cockroach in the coffee tray in the room
3> Wardrobe smelled of insecticide.
3> Short Bed. Not long enough for somebody 5'8''
4> TV not working

The hotel had nice rooms that were very spacious. The room had reverse cycle air con, and the beds were nice. We had hot water at all times.....unlike some other similarly priced Indian hotels we have stayed at! The hotel was in a convenient location near the other upmarket shops and restaurants. Had all the facilities you would expect from a large hotel. Breakfast was tasty as well, although not amazing.

reception ok, nice swimmingpool, good restaurant!
close to the busstation and trainstation.
to use there internet and computers is 160 roepies an hour , a little bit overpriced
the riksjadrivers outside the hotel bring you in 5 minutes to taj mahal. but be carefull with ajay and his cousin( motorriksja)
