We were a group of 11 which included 3 kids & 4 couples. We had gone there for the new years eve since Bangalore (our home town) was too crowded.
Please note - We are time share owners in sterling & hence did not pay a room rent but paid for utilities such as electricity / water / Housekeeping. We did not inquire about the rack rates but I believe it between 2500 rs to 6000 rs.
The good news is that they have a good investor recently who has pumped in around 100 crores ( 25 Million USD) & the effects were visible with ongoing renovations.
Since we were 11, the accommodation was in 3 rooms which included only one renovated room. We ended up spending a lot of time here & used the other rooms for sleeping only. The renovated room is really classy with Flat screen TV & extremely comfy beds. The microwave / hot plates & cutlery were really clean, neat & functioning correctly. Once all the rooms are finished to this level, i am sure the place will be superb.
The highlight of the resort is the staff which is very pleasing / courteous / warm & always helpful. Their willingness to take feedback positively is a very good step towards making this resort an extremely likeable place when the renovations are done. I expect it to get done in another 4 ~ 5 months. Be there this summer for sure.
The restaurant is bit dull but the food is good & portions just about ok. The cutlery is good but the room service cutlery can be better. Since you can cook on your own there i guess the variety in the menu is slightly neglected. Let me re-iterate the food during New Year celebration was good & variety decent.
Other amenities include a small outdoor play area with swings / slides / trampoline for kids under 14 & an indoor activity room with PS2 & other indoor games. Charges are a slightly high but then again you are on a holiday. An hour at the PS2 is around 250rs ( 5 USD @ current exchange rates :-) )...
The parking area is big enough & is advisable to drive down to Ooty so that you can do the sightseeing locally & also travel to the town which is a good 4 km from the resort.
The new year's celebration was good with a DJ & decent sized dance floor. The food was good & the variety good. This resort does not have a license to sell alcohol & they had taken a special one day license for the New Year event. I would recommend that you get yours in advance & not depend either on the local stores in the town or on the resort. Get it from your home town .
