If you go to any wedding hall 48 hours before the big party, you feel like it is going to be great but if you look around, things are not in place yet. This is how we felt at Sinclairs. Courteous although very inequal service. Kitchen closed except for a few snacks. No heat and no hot water when we came in ( this was solved after a few hours but it was scary at first)... The room and dining area look beautiful (4* international) and there is a wonderful view. Lets hope that they will quickly finish upgrading and that they will switch on some music in the corridors for some much awaited ambiance... This being said i bet that someone will rate this property very high in a month or two!

Thank you for taking the time to post your review on Trip Advisor. We are disappointed to hear your stay with us did not meet your expectations. However, we're pleased to hear that you loved your room and the views. Being the highest located hotel in South India, Sinclairs Ooty offers a breathtaking view of the Blue Mountains. This makes it unquestionably the best located hotel in Ooty. No wonder the views from all our rooms are very picturesque!

Please note that whenever possible we can assure you we do everything to appropriately deal with guest complaints. We do apologize for the non-availability of heating and hot water on your arrival, but I'm glad that this problem was resolved quickly.

I cannot agree with you more when you say that Sinclairs Retreat Ooty will be rated very high in a month's time! You will be pleased to know that our renovation is almost complete, and some finishing points need to be addressed.

We will investigate the challenges you experienced during your stay and do hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back to Sinclairs Ooty soon.

“A good hotel within budget”

Sinclairs Ooty was a marvelous play to stay.
The view from the hotel room was amazing.Rooms were clean and even come with a coffee maker, which was very useful in the cold.They even arranged for a room heater on request.
The travel desk was very helpful and they arranged a cab for us for site seeing.

Overall a pleasant stay at Sinclairs!!

“An Expensive Hotel for the quality and service offered”

We went to ooty for 4days with family for vacation and stayed at the Sinclairs Retreat. Though we paid an exorbitant price of over 20K rupees, we actually felt cheated once we landed at the hotel. The rooms were small and conjusted, the service was highly average and because we went in season, the hotel felt like standing in a fish market. The fooding at the hotel is exorbitantly priced. Even Ooty as a city stinked and was very dirty with and narrow and broken roads. We took a boat ride on the lake also which though seemed very beautiful in the movie Karz but actually is very dirty.

“Worst hotel I have ever stayed in”

We arrived at Sinclairs having booked to stay at one of their 2 "villas". After having been shown this place which is actually off their property we decided that it was not suitable because it was freezing cold and all the hotel staff could provide us with were 2 very inadequate fan heaters. We then decided to move to the main hotel as we could not tolerate freezing in the large house. This was even worse but at least a bit warmer. The rooms were FILTHY. It seemed like nothing had been properly cleaned for many months. The shower curtain in the bathroom had black scum on it and one had to make sure that one touched it as little as possible. Their webiste shows a very different picture from the reality of the place and I would not recommend this to anyone.Admittedly their restaurant was pretty decent so at least that was some consolation.

Please note that we take guest service very seriously throughout the resort, and we have used your feedback to target discussions with the manager of the resort.

You will be pleased to know that Sinclairs Retreat Ooty has undergone complete refurbishment and has re-opened last week. The upgraded resort is all set to make your holiday really special. We have also introduced a health club and spa, a vibrant entertainment zone and a coffee shop.

We look forward to the opportunity to meet all of your expectations on a future visit at Sinclairs Retreat Ooty. Once again, we apologize for the inconvenience caused.

“A good hotel with a very nice view”

We (me & my wife) stayed in this hotel in the last week of May'2010
We have taken their package , everything is good in package but
sightseeing in the coach is slightly dis-comfortabale , we
have ooty- conour sightseeing by the coach and the next day
i booked the taxi from hotel itself for peakara sight seeing.
Housekeeping was not as efficient in compaison to other
staff of the hotel.
