“Unforgettable experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2011

ExplorIndya (1-7 Jan 11)
Came across Rajat and ExplorIndya through Responsible Travel. I do not usually rely on agencies when I travel but unforeseen circumstances brought me to organise this very last minut eand hence needed some help. Could not find a better travel advisor, reliable, competent and extremely professional. I then met Rajat and his family at Aakriti as part of my trip. Amazing experience, could not recommend them more.

Aakriti Homestay (3-6 Jan 11)
The most memorable part of my trip. I consider myself so lucky to have come across Aakriti. I will be eternally grateful for the heartwarming hospitality and the discreet care of the Kumar family. Such lovely and considerate people, that I will never forget. It seemed to me to be instantly part of the family - and it felt so good...A stop at Aakriti is an absolute must.

“2 days with the most lovely family”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2011

We stayed in Aakriti for 2 nights and we will always remember it as a lovely experience.

Not only because we had a great time up there in the misty hills with Ravi and Rajat, going for walks, visiting the tea plantations and a little factory, cecking out the market and enjoying the BEST INDIAN FOOD EVER that renu prepared for us.

But also because we genuinely enjoyed the company of the family. they are lovely people, nice, warm and hospitable. We felt very welcome and comfortable in their house. We were glad to have the opportunity to get to know a true indian family and learn from their way of thinking and the way they lead their lives within this interesting, complex and spiritual culture.

“If you are thinking about an Indian Homestay this is the place you want”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2011

December 2010
We booked this homestay (Aakriti) as part of a 21 day vacation booked with ExplorIndya and it was a tranquil oasis in what was a busy schedule.

A well appointed home with excellent individual rooms for guests set in a small Tea Plantation with some stunning views across the hills.

As part of our stay the Kumar's provided us with several excursions and personally guided us providing lots of information and historical background, including Tea Plantation / Factory / Tasting, Markets, Train Rides and other things

The whole family take great pride in being involved with their guests and do so with great enthusiasm.

I have to make special mention regarding the food which was more than excellent, wish we had booked longer so we could have added the cookery lessons.

If you are thinking about a homestay then please try this one.
If you have not yet tried a homestay then please try this one.

“Excellent hospitality with a very personal and authentic Indian touch!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2011

Aakriti is an excellent choice to stay in the wonderful Nilgiri Mountains. We enjoyed our stay very much particularly the time we spent with the whole familiy. At Aakriti homestay you feel like you are part of the familiy. We stayed at a very nice Indian decorated bungalow in the middle of a small tea plantation. We will come back again....Regards from Switzerland.

“Wonderful Stay in India”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 January 2011

his family stay is much better than a hotel. We stayed one week, came in as guests and left as friends. The Kumar family not only provides excellent full board lodging but also organises interesting local tours. After a longer tour (also organised by Explorindya), this family stay was exactly what we needed. Explorindya organised our tour in the southern provinces. They selected the best hotels, provided excellent transport (not a triviality in India) and composed a well balanced programme. We saw the cultural highlights and we also had some leisure time at wonderful resorts. The Kumar family and Explorindya also helped us when it turned out that the business part of our trip (the oart that was organised by other institutions and firms) was not what we expected. Thanks to their help and their commitment as well as their local contacts, these issues were quickly solved. Without hesitation we can say that the Kumar family and their company are 100% reliable. Our next trip to India will definitely be organised by Explorindya.

Because it is a family stay, some of the questions below do not apply.
