“Amazing”

Stayed for 5 nights, including a 2 day cheesemaking course. The location of Acres Wild is amazing - the view over the valley is breathtaking. The cottage we stayed in was delightful, with a kitchen if you want to prepare snacks, etc. We ate in the dining room every day where the food was always good, but served a bit late for our constitution. Breakfast with homemade marmalade, cheese, and (some days homemade) bread was wonderful. Acres Wild is a working farm, off the beaten track but this is what made it so special in India - peace and tranquility but only 10 minutes by autorickshaw from the centre of Coonoor. We watched the cows being milked (by hand) and the next day we made cheese from that milk! Mansoor and Tina are wonderful hosts - very interesting to talk to and always concerned about their guests welfare. I can recommend a stay here -especially if you are interested in the environment and its future - but it is a bit isolated which added to its charm for us.

“All ingredients for an Unforgettable Stay and Unshakable Longing to Return”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 February 2012

Very Friendly and Sweet People - this was the first impression that we had when we rang up to confirm bookings. This place is home, the people welcome you like family, and engage you with their experiences. Mr and Mrs Mansoor are very honest, forthcoming and have no airs. Their food, rooms, and rates are Honest and very very comforting. The views from each cottage was breathtaking, and the different heights at which each are located, took our breath away. Food was good, but the cheese was mind blowing, the taste still lingers on !!! Each cottage is equipped with a good kitchen, making food at 3 in the night - turned us into little kids. Lots and lots of books on the shelves. The staff went out of their way to make us feel home, sharing their life path and even surprising us with freshly made cheese at 10 in the night !!! For entertainment we had birds dancing in the back yard and stars putting up a show in the sky. Come with some one you love, and hug them and reconnect - in this place, nature gives you quite a helping hand. (An added bonus was that it was valentines day, and also our first wedding anniversary). Come here, do nothing else but talk, walk, read, eat and drink in the silence and purity of the place, people and take home lots of memories. Thinking back on your experience will only refresh your tired day. Thank you MansoorBhai for a lovely lovely experience. Truly - buy an experience, not an item, the happiness is worth it!!!

Room Tip: The newer cottage is good - but the Cheddar Cottage at the other side of the property is ideal for t...

“Precious Moments”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

We visited acres wild during mid jan. It was chilly in the nights but days were pleasant mostly. The farm is everything it claims on the website. Its really a farm with the cowshed, duck pond, hen pen and the special cheese cottage where they make their wonderful cheese. The hosts - Mansoor and Tina are warm and hospitable. They take great care of the guests and make you feel at home. We were travelling with our kids - 2 and 5 yrs old. Mansoor made sure that any special requests were adequately met. We had great conversations with our hosts. We also managed to get a hands-on training in how to make fresh bread. Tina also guided us abt shopping in Coonoor.
Even with the kids, we managed to do most of the activities at the farm - fishing, cow milking (my 5 yr old son actually managed to do it too) and checked out the vegetable garden which our hosts maintain so carefully. We also visited the cheese cottage and saw how they make their cheese. The library is well stocked and the kids selection of books was also very good. They have a beautiful dog Ria, who is so friendly and docile that my 2 yr old son was all over her. The staff are well trained and are very good at their job. Deepak and wife made simple and tasty meals - lovely phulkas and made sure all our meals were satisfying. Vinod was very helpful too. All the other staff- Mary, Munna etc. were also very friendly and helpful. The reason behind such good staff is that Tina and Mansoor treat them like their own family!
We had fresh cows milk and yummy cheese everyday. Our cottage was the Haloumi. It was well furnished and comfortable. The view from the cottage was incredible. We had an open gazebo in front of the cottage. We also got a nice fire in the fireplace thanks to Vinod. The kitchen was well supplied with an induction stove, fridge and kettle. As we were with small kids and it was a long climb from the dining room to cottage, Deepak helped in delivering our dinner to us.
The farm is eco friendly with gobar gas for cooking, solar panels for water heaters, organically grown vegetables, free range cows. Mansoor is very passionate abt the environment and is doing more than his bit in this farm. It is in an inspiration to see ppl like him. And the farm is so charming. Its an opportunity for city breds like me to experience. The kids enjoyed their vacation and my son said that this was his best holiday. We had earlier gone to Singapore last yr! The clean air, the fresh food, the ambience - precious memories. We had a really wonderful time at Acres wild and look forward to visiting again.

“unique experience”

Acres Wild truly stands by its name. Mansoor & Tina are wonderful hosts and genuinely friendly people to interact. The location is beautiful & serene though its close to the town, yet tucked away in a corner. Its a paradise for bird watchers and those who love wild life. The cottages are aesthetically designed and the food is delicious. Kids would love to watch Cheese making, bread making & soap making besides milking the cows....

“Lovely Place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 January 2012

Acres Wild farm is a place I would recommend to anyone and everyone who is looking for a place to connect with nature. You feel so much a part of nature its amazing and makes us wonder what r we doing in the cities. To top it up the breadmaking/soap making sessions with Mansoor seasoned by his views on the world, progress..... Also must mention Tina who gave us a nice tour of her beautiful house.

we stayed in the colby cottage and got to see the Indian Gaur (popularly known as the Indian Bison) grazing Tina's kitchen garden and not to forget the barking deer roaming about, fishing for the kids, milking the cows all in all a must visit place
