The Owners seem to have developed this property more with the intention of promoting their main business of handicrafts and furniture (expertise in silver furniture). While the landscaping is nice and hotel rooms are big with a lot of carved furniture and old type furniture (new but made to look old) and miniature paintings but beyond that there is nothing in this property. There is no pressurised water system so the water in the shower is a mere trickle.
The room service and general service is pathetic. I had to wait half an hour for the porter to take bags to my room. In the mornings no newspapers are delivered to the room and it took 4 phone calls and 2 hours to get a paper. The quality and selection of the food is terrible and there is very little to choose from. Also veg and non-veg dishes are placed in between each other and often guests who are vegetarian pick a non-veg dish by mistake and then they need to change their plates. Even the breakfast was hardly upto mark and despite repeated requests no ketchup was kept on the table.
The owner it seems is more interested in using this property to sell his furniture and didnt seem to be interested in improving the room service. I would never recommend this property to anyone

We stayed at Royal retreat recently and had the most comfortable and relaxed stay.Its exotic location, beautiful layout with aesthetically redesigned rooms and grounds sweeps you off you feet.Great place for people looking for the old world charm of the royal Rajasthan!!!

We stayed at this hotel as part of a group tour...the rooms and grounds are lovely.The dining room needs to learn that not all travelers want a buffet every night..Room service was spotty..some nights they said they were too busy,,,they want you to eat the buffet..they don't want you to order a la carte..they even offered us a discount to eat the buffet...food was just OK.If you are not part of a group, I would not saty here.You are way out of town and no no way to get back and forth...Udaipur is a lovely city and I would have liked to enjoy strolling through it.

This hotel is quite far outside of town on a charming farming road.
The garden setting is beautiful with great views from the roof top restaurant.
The rooms were huge with a working TV with some English channels.
The furniture was period reproductions, so the overall ambiance was nice.
I used the gym once - the equipment was older but I got it to work.
The staff were friendly and helpful.

But on the other side,
The bath was not clean
The AC worked, but struggled to cool the large room
They have NO wifi and the one computer never worked while we were there.
The pools were murky and unswimmable.
The food was over priced and average buffet. We did better off of the menu.
The beds were hard.
