Stayed two nights and had a "ladies courtyard" room. Nothing special about the room. The views from the rooftop especially at dusk and evening were very nice. Dining room staff were good but would not say the same about those at reception. Awkward location to get to and once you are about 100 metres away the noise from traffic is terrible.

Had booked Jagat Niwas through the net based on traveller reviews. Was more than satisfied with the location, room quality and service.

Had a room with an awesome view of the Udaipur lake palace. Spent a lot of time in the restaurant overlooking the lake.

The hotel is an old haveli done up elegantly. My 8 year old son loved the bed by the window. The rooms and the bathrooms have a lot of character. Would definitely recommend this place for travelers not looking at spending a fortune to get a stay over-looking the lake.

If there is one thing, would suggest they include breakfast as part of the package...

This was a very nice place to stay.Things you should know - pro's: great location, beautiful property, lovely people working there, good restaurant for hanging out or eating, super location. Con's: we had two rooms one on the first floor one on the second - second floor room was really noisy. In that particular room there is a window in the bathroom that opens to a little alley or balcony or something, very loud - dog crying for hours each night, people bustling around. So avoid that room if possible, kids' room heard nothing. Second, they referred us to a shop immediately outside the haveli for help with some travel planning and that was not terrific (a little too self-serving in recommendations), and third, (and now you know the true extent of my phobias!) the door locks were really charming old style sliding dead bolts one on the inside and one on the outside with therefore no master key. So what if there was some kind of medical emergency inside and no one could get to you!? My solution: just don't think about it... ha ha and yes we all lived!

This is definitively the best hotel of our trip in India.

We arrived to Udaipur planning to stay just one night but we decided to extended two more. The first reason is the city itself. It is such a special place.....

The second reason was this hotel. The lovely and clean rooms, the view to the lake, the roof terrace restaurant, the beautiful decoration of all the facilities and the friendly staff makes it THE place to stay. The only negative would be the lack of Wifi connection despite being advertised....But, to be honest, who needs Internet when you're in Udaipur (Internet cafe is just next door - and of course, it belongs to the hotel....)

We would definitively recommend this hotel to everyone who goes to Udaipur.
