“Dev Vilas, Ideal Place to Visit Ranthombore Park”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2012

We stayed in the hotel from 01st Jan 2012 to 03rd Jan 2012. Rooms are big, well maintained with nice furnishings. Each room has two toilets, which is an ideal thing when you have to rush early in the morning to visit the National Park. The food is excellent. The owner family lives in the premises and looked after each detail to make our stay memorable. The owner has an elephant at the premises which is a big attraction for children.

Room Tip: Hotel have few King Size twin bed rooms which are ideal if you are with children

“Nice hotel, very friendly staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

We stayed 2 nights at the Dev Vilas and we enjoyed our experience. The room and the bathroom are spacious, very simply furbished, very clean. The service is very good, also thanks to the presence of the very friendly hotel owner. The staff is incredibly friendly. The hotel is the closest to the park entrance (2 minutes by car) so very conveniently located.
The only minus for us was that, having arrived on a cold rainy day, since the hotel has no heating system (except in January, temperatures are 25-45 C), the room was cold.

“Nice Place to Stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 December 2011

We stayed here in November 2011 as part of our tour package with Tour My India.

Nice clean grounds and the room itself was very large with two bathrooms. A few minor quibbles - switchplates, door knobs and around these surfaces could use a wipe now and then - I'm sure with the nature of the clientel (post safari, covered in dust and dirt) the rooms take a beating and are very clean taking this into consideration.

The staff are super friendly and accomodating. Everyone was very nice. Service was excellent and I really liked their "one tip at the end of your stay" philosophy. Totally voluntary of course, and a locked box is available in the lobby to put your tip into.

The pool is nice although we did not use it and the safaris were great. We were picked up and dropped off from the front of the hotel. The park entrance is very close by, perhaps a kilometer away.

The food was good. In particular, the breakfast was really nice with the choices and the short order egg station. Toast arrived in abundance and there is an espresso machine (extra charge, but worth it!) so you can get away from the instant coffee so prevalent in India.

I'd stay here again, no problem.

“Great place to be..”

I visited this hotel with my family in October this year and stayed in their tented cottages. The tent was state of the art, with huge and comfy beds, the washrooms were roomy and well stocked with toiletries...here the bathrooms do not have doors but have strategically put in walls which could be a little embarrassing if you're staying with little kids/friends...the porch outside the tent is a beautiful addition and makes way for some lovely morning tea and night gossips...even sitting by the pool and reading is something that I enjoyed; thanks to the tranquil atmosphere...the staff too was very attentive and well groomed...Whisky the great dane and Pawan Kali the elephant were a lovely addition...the lobby too is very comfortable with books to read whilst waiting for your canter/gypsy.

Needs improvement on the food front...the quality and taste of food was excellent but has very little variety, especially for the lunch and dinner buffets.
