“Decent for the price”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 December 2009

We booked the Raj Palace after reading its reviews on Makemytrip and Tripadvisor. While the reviews were favorable, our experience was disappointing.

The place isn't expensive. We got a breakfast package at Rs. 2100 (USD 40). But have stayed in much better rooms at this rate. The rooms were really small and the bedding wasn't clean. The breakfast was a shame with just omelette, bread and tea! That put us off...

On the good side, the hotel is conveniently located from the station and the forest dept booking office for the Ranthambore office.

Wouldnt really recommend this to others.

“Amazing Experience”

We went to this place without much expectation but the experience was really awesome. We had a pleasant experience staying there and we were treated like we have been there before. The main thing is that it is very near to railway station. The safari offered was the best as we saw 2 tigers( *lucky) which is expected to be very very rare. You expect value of the money and also good hospitality which were on the mark at affordable price.

They even understand our requirements like they allowed us to stay 2 more hours even though we missed check out time.

Its good to book the hotel before we reach which will ease our journey.

“Not brilliant”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 December 2009

We spent far more time than we had hoped in this hotel as there was a cyclone in the area at the time of our stay and the weather was awful. Obviously the hotel is designed for people to be out all day on safari and as such there is very little to do if you are here but at least there is a pool, though i did not try it! The service throughout our stay was excellent, very attentive and the room was basic but large and clean enough.
However there are a few bad points of the hotel. Firstly the road it is on is very noisy and loud horns can be heard all day. Secondly there are frequent power cuts and although it does come back on it is still annoying. Also the hot water was never actually hot when we needed it. The restaurant here though is cheap and the food was acceptable.

“Very nice and relaxed stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 November 2009

We stayed at the Raj Palace Resort last week end for 3 nights. Had a great holiday thanks to this good accomodation.

The resort is just 15 mins from the train station and can be reached by a shared auto. Unlike most of the resorts which are much off the Ranthambore road, this one is quite central. There are plenty of handicrafts shops next to it also, which you just have to visit. Despsite being on the main road, it is absolutely peaceful as there is hardly any traffic on the road.

We liked the lawn also a lot, with plenty of sunshine, which is good in the winters! The pool is also nice, but sadly we had not taken any swimming trunks. The food was awesome. Authentic Indian and perfectly made.

The rooms were clean, big and newly built. Same for the bathroom. And this was at a very reasonable rate, which included room rent and all three meals.

Staff was very friendly and helpful and took care of all our needs including safari booking.

“loved it!”

My husband has never been on a safari and hence from agra we decided to go to ranthambore..Raj is a great place to stay..the first hotel on the ranthambore main road..only 300 meters from the booking office..lovely rooms...for 1200 u get the ac deluxe room..its very peaceful..food there is also great..has a pool as well..service was also great..check-in for indians is a breeze..has lovely lawns...rooms and the bathrooms are very spacious..but before you go,check with them if they have any huge groups staying there..because the day we were leaving there was a group of around 35 children who checked in..was a summer camp for them..so really young children..around the ages of 8-12...If so,we do not recommend that you stay there coz they are really noisy...

for the safaris its cheaper to book it directly with the booking office..the hotel rates are around 35% higher ...you can book the safaris online also, well before your visit..this will save you a lot of time..
There is nothing much to do at ranthambore other than the safaris.. we went for three safaris and to our bad luck did not spot any tigers..the forest is divided into 5 zones and zone 1,4 and 5 are supposed to be good for viewing..it completely depends on your luck which zone u get...we went on 1,2 and 3...Zone 1 was completely ruined for us with 4 loud and uncouth college boys making so much noise that we had to return back early..it was sad to see them behave so...

But overall we had a relaxed trip and we had fun..
