When to approach to Hotel, you may feel that, you have made a mistake to book this hotel, but once the hotel door opens, it is all together a different world. The ambience on Hotel is very very good, specially in the morning and evening hours.
We drove 85 kms from Jodhpur to reach Khejarla, which is a small village in the middle of nowhere. The fort is located in a tiny, prosporous village which is quiet but colorful. As soon as you enter the huge olden iron studded door, a man wearing traditional attire greeted us with traditional garlanding and tikka. The guy in a loud and clear voice wished us Khamagani. We felt like we were taken back to the royal past - in a time capsule.
This is the home of Thakur Dalip Singh, and a part is now converted into a heritage hotel. The staff here are descendants of the royal help who have served royalty for centuries, and they did know how to treat us like royals!
The rooms are divided inside the fort and few in annexe. Regular expansion has been taking place, indicating the poprerty popularity. The rooms are beautifully decorated and huge. More than the rooms, the bathrooms are huge and done up very well. Luckily there is no TV in the room which is a sigh of relief. However, for those wanting to enjoy TV, there is a common TV in the TV room. A small library greets those who are interested in some reading. The gardens are lovely and if you get the chance, sit outside your room in one of the leafy, grassed courtyards, sipping a beer, watching the parrots in the trees and the squirrels playing on the grasMost rooms open up to a patio outside the room where there were coffee tables and chairs to relax on and watch the view. From Patio one can view entire resort making an ideal place to pass the time.
It an excellent place to laze around, enjoy some spa pampering, do basic village sightseeing, etc. and enjoy endless cups of tea, coffee and beer. Close to the village is the popular Fab India manufacturing units. Take a jeep safari through the local countryside to view the wildlife and visit a local village.
The hotel oriental spa is amazing and so are their services. As soon as we entered, we were given some cold towels and drinks. I tried the Thai massage while my friend tried the Aromatheraphy massage. Both were lovely.
For food there are no options outside the Fort. But boy, the in-house food is lovely. So far the best I had eaten on my trip around heritage properties. The restaurant serves vegetarian dishes and eggs. Never thought we would enjoy vegetarian food so much. For evening entertaintment, in addition to the excellent food and service, there was lovely music, folk dancing and magic show.
