“GOOD PRORETY, BUT VERY POOR SERVICE”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 December 2010

Hi, the property is very good, tastefully done architecture, but the service lacks miles behind. Most of the hotels n restaurants are exhorbitantly over priced n offer very poor service. For a comfortable stay i would recommend this hotel to my friends, provided they have enough patience to tolerate the inexperienced staff.Food in the hotel is pathetic, especially the free breakfast that they serve. The hotel rooms are very neat and are the only saving grace in the hotel.Over all, it s a nice property(architecturally),but lacks basic services.i was surprised when the hotel refused to clean my car, even after having a 3 day group reservation.i remember not getting basic amneties like towels n soaps n milk for children, even after requesting them for hours..lol..manage your own food if you want to stay here.but i would still say, that if they trhe basic hotel management gets improved, this place would be a real cool place to stay..

“Too many problems”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 December 2010

Although this hotel looks great in the lobby and the marble, winding staircase is lovely, the front is on a dirty, noisy street and things did not work.. First of all, the desk man could not open our room, so he picked another empty room down the hall (first bad sign when the key does not work). I went to put our water bottles into the bar fridge and it was hot; then the sink in bathroom was plugged and the water did not drain out; the toilet flushed by pushing my full weight against the button and then it shuttered. I called down to the desk; it took overnight to get the problems fixed; they brought in another fridge which turned on but did not get cold.
The men who came to fix things were very nice, but the desk guy should have got things fixed that first night- the sink repair took 10 minutes, for example.
The room was nice enough and comfortable enough to sleep, but it looked onto a small open area of a backstreet that was full of garbage with wild dogs roaming and barking all night. Getting ready for the day, the next morning, there was a huge squeal and they were attacking a baby wild pig.
I asked for a quieter room facing inside the complex which has a nice looking pool and garden. The hotel seemed empty but for a couple of guests; they would not change rooms.
Our small evening meal was okay, but the dahl was watery and not worth eating; the breakfast was okay with a good waiter and a fellow who made omelettes which was nice.
On leaving, I suggested to the desk guy, who spoke little English, that he might absorb the cost of our laundry...about 10 $ for all the problems (or not charge us for our dinner would have been a nice gesture) and he nodded , and then later made me pay checkout saying he has no authority. At this point I asked for the manager who was 'out of town, in London'. On leaving, he came out and asked for us to pay for a bottle of water which was open in our hot fridge. This bottle had not been refreshed and was untouched by us. Why would we drink hot water? He did not believe us and said the room had been prepared with fresh bottles. He seemed to forget that the room we were booked in was not used by us, so maybe he got mixed up. With the state of the room, it looked like it had not been used for a while.
All in all, this guy was trying in a way to make things better in a place where a lot went wrong. I think he had too much on his plate, but that is the owner's business to get it right so guests are happy and recommend it to others.
Leaving the keys on an unattended front desk for anyone to take was also not too secure feeling. If this guy is always going to rooms to see the problems, that desk is empty. We kept our key with us.

Overall, too many problems, with no real effort to make it better for us, with a fellow in charge who spoke little English and who did not have the 'authority' to give me some compensation. Lots of nice marble and a pool did not make up for a bad stay.

“STAYED LIKE A KING”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 September 2010

The hotel is very well located very close to the railway station and in the heart of the city. The hotel gives a great view of the Fort. The new wing has clean rooms, nice swimming pool and the food is appetizing. nice excursions are also organised spoken to in advance. Only downside, it does not accept plastic money and ATM's are far and few in Jaiselmer. So carry cash.

“Had the place to ourselves in off season”

Indulged by staff in empty hotel. Enjoyed great facilities in restaurant, pool and room service. No telephone service and unreliable internet available at time of our stay.

“Tastefully done Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 April 2010

We visited Jaisalmer in the last week of March and stayed at this well appointed property.
Some of the recent reviews on tripadvisor had put some scare in our minds but as there were mixed opinons and the web site of the hotel was appealing therefore we decided to go ahead.
Well, the hotel has two parts one old and other new and we were given the super deluxe rooms in the new part and they were very well appointed and tastefully done. The bathroom was functional and the highlight was the 'Rainfall Shower".
The pool area was tempting and we had all our meals there and the service too was crisp. The puppet show in the evening at the little garden near the pool was entertaining.
However we found the city of Jaisalmer very dirty , specially the areas around the famous Golden Fort.
In all our stay was very comfortable.
