“Just do it!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

We just came back from a short 1-night stay at KB Lodge in Jaisalmer. The small 5-bedroom hotel is very cosy, well decorated, well situated (outside the fort, which is ethically better but still very close to the fort) and has a nice roof-top terrace.
The rooms are ok, just don't accept very luxurious rooms, beds (they have a thin mattress which makes the beds quite hard) and bathrooms. It's all very basic but there's hot water and they provide bottles of mineral water and earbuds. You'll need them, because it's a very noisy area with a lot of barking dogs and cooing pigeons. But that's a bit the same as in Udaipur, Jaipur, Agra or other Indian cities.
We stayed in the hotel with our two kids (4 and 6 years old). And it was just perfect. You just can't leave the kids unattended on the roof terrace, they can easily fall of the terrace.
The staff as well as the owner were very service-minded and super kind. They were keen to explain you everything they knew about the city.
The lodge has a beautiful view on the nicest haveli in town: Patwa haveli.
The food of the restaurant is ok. They serve the famous thali but we ordered continental food and that was ok.
If you're looking for a more luxurious stay, go for their other hotel: Killa Bhawan.

“Nice relaxing place to stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

I really enjoyed the KB Lodge. It has a nice atmosphere, very helpful and friendly staff and a lovely roof terrace with great views of the haveli across the road and the fort slightly further away. We thought it was much nicer to be in this location, just 5-10 mins walk from the fort, than inside the fort. The food is really nice and great value - it's the best place to eat in Jaisalmer that we tried. The terrace is a really nice place to relax whenever you are not out seeing the sights.

Room Tip: There are not many rooms so book early!

“Cosy place with a awesome terrace”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2012

The place was very centric. Just 5 minutes walk from the Jaisalmer fort. A very relaxing place with good food and awesome view. The staff is cordial and helpful. Only 5 rooms are there hence it is always booked. Out of which 2 rooms are small and should be taken only if you are traveling alone.Good place for a 1-2 day time frame.

Room Tip: Pick only the bigger size room

“Great manager, great food and great location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

At Jaisalmer, we stayed at Killa Bhawan (inside the fort) and had most of our meals at KB Lodge (the sister hotel of Killa Bhawan). Three highlights of KB Lodge: Bhanu - the manager, the great food on the rooftop and finally, the location (right opposite Patwa Haveli). Bhanu was one of the finest managers of all the hotels we stayed during our two week trip of Rajasthan. He gave us great advice on places to visit in Rajasthan, eating joints (e.g. New Shree Thaal restaurant in Jaipur) and tips on Shopping (Krishna Emporium right next to KB Lodge has a great collection of Rajasthani handicrafts at reasonable prices). In the true spirit of customer delight, one day he specially organized a North Indian breakfast for us (samosas, kachoris) at Killa Bhawan after we mentioned that we were tired of having Continental breakfasts all through our trip. Mention also needs to be made of the great Indian food at KB Lodge (thalis are relatively inexpensive and are simple - just like home-made food). Finally, KB Lodge is located just opposite Patwa Haveli in the heart of the old part of Jaisalmer. I would highly recommend a stay here.

“Amazing hospitality”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 December 2011

I chose fort view over city view, hence chose to stay at the highly recommended KB Lodge, opp.the gorgeous Patwon ki Haveli. It is a small but friendly and safe hotel,3-4 km from the railway station and 5-7 min by walk to the fort.Since we were 2 couples,I had booked two a/c rooms for Rs.2000/- per night+5.15% service tax, over mail.On reaching we occupied rooms 52 and 55.The rooms are really small, but one tends to ignore this as one experiences their friendly service and hospitality. We even got a 4 hour extension to check out as requested over mail.

Our room 52 was done up in red decor, had a small wardrobe, double bed,2 bedside tables,a really tiny bath and a small sit out window facing the Patwon ki Haveli.Ear plugs are placed in every room to keep away the noise from the streets, though foreigners may find them more useful than us Indians.

The rooms and the entire hotel is decked up in traditional Rajasthani colors with brass pots, colorful umbrellas and patchwork quilts. The owner mentioned that they paint up every year. The hotel has a good bookstore,a spa and a nice roof top restaurant that serves superb Rajasthani thalis(with ker sangri, gatte ka saag,a paneer dish, dal, rotis and pulao/jeera rice). On request the owners prepared two local dishes, namely papad sabzi and stuffed tomatoes. We had pastas and pizzas for dinner once and they were quite tasty.Breakfast is complimentary and tea unlimited.Their thali does attract many non resident guests as well. They also have another hotel called Killa Bhavan inside the fort and also a handicrafts shop.

I chatted with the owners to know more about Jaisalmer, shopping etc...We took the desert safari with them, they will personalise as per your needs.Mention your interest in shopping-jewellery,handicrafts etc.. and they will guide you well.Krishna handlooms and handicrafts very close to the hotel and recommended by them, turned out to be a fantastic shop with amazing variety and reasonable price.

The staff is friendly, service is very good, owners are pleasant and jaisalmer is a beautiful place.Spend at least 3 days here to make the best of this town, explore the lanes and by lanes, walk around to view the beautiful local houses and yes, shop till you drop!
