We just came back from a short 1-night stay at KB Lodge in Jaisalmer. The small 5-bedroom hotel is very cosy, well decorated, well situated (outside the fort, which is ethically better but still very close to the fort) and has a nice roof-top terrace.
The rooms are ok, just don't accept very luxurious rooms, beds (they have a thin mattress which makes the beds quite hard) and bathrooms. It's all very basic but there's hot water and they provide bottles of mineral water and earbuds. You'll need them, because it's a very noisy area with a lot of barking dogs and cooing pigeons. But that's a bit the same as in Udaipur, Jaipur, Agra or other Indian cities.
We stayed in the hotel with our two kids (4 and 6 years old). And it was just perfect. You just can't leave the kids unattended on the roof terrace, they can easily fall of the terrace.
The staff as well as the owner were very service-minded and super kind. They were keen to explain you everything they knew about the city.
The lodge has a beautiful view on the nicest haveli in town: Patwa haveli.
The food of the restaurant is ok. They serve the famous thali but we ordered continental food and that was ok.
If you're looking for a more luxurious stay, go for their other hotel: Killa Bhawan.
