My daughter and I spent one night at the historic palace. It is filled with artifacts and includes a museum. Reigning royalty resides in a wing of the palace and you can see the owner's horses being exercised in the courtyard just outside the palace. If you want to stay in a heritage hotel that has excellent service and amazing surroundings, this is the place. We were greeted at reception by a gentleman with the most amazing mustache and dressed in desert safari clothes. We kept looking for Indiana Jones to appear as the treasures displayed were truly museum worthy. The entire property is magnificent. Our only regret is that we stayed in the new wing where aluminum framed doors and windows spoiled the charm but did not impact the comfort of our stay. Just steps away when you exit is the compact, winding streets of the Jaisalamer village bazaar. As two women traveling alone, we felt safe, secure, and received wonderful service.
Room Tip: New wing has clean comfortable rooms but without the historic charm.
