“A truly royal experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

We stayed in Surya Mahal Suite @ Mandir Place in Jan 2012. This was actually the king's room earlier. The room is huge and gives a royal feeling.
The terrace view of the fort and hotel is great. All the good restaurants are just outside the hotel, The Trio and Saffron, are the few to name.
This is a heritage property and a overall was a great royal experience.
The movie Sarfarosh was shot here.

“What a disappointment!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

Good location, but everything else was poor. Rooms were very cold as the night temp was down to 0C and no extra blankets available; (I think this is were I got my cold) Reception area is terrible and front desk staff have obviously not been trained. Great views from the roof. Breakfast was very poor. Had dinner outside as menu did not look very appealing.

“Awesome location and Value for money”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

The hotel is located on one wall of the fort and overlooks the city. The view from the terrace is breathtaking. The rooms are decent and service is very homely. The owner is always there to help and pays personal attention to the guest's comfort.

“Stay here only if you get to stay in Heritage Room”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

It is a Heritage Property which needs good management. Apart from our Maharani Suite everything else was crap. service needs lot of attention and huge improvement is required. Restaurant and food they serve is worst we experienced In our whole Rajasthan Trip. Suite was nice with a large floor space, bathroom was below average. Staff were just OK. We had dinner at Trio which is just next door. Food was really good there.

“Historic Palace in Great Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2012

My daughter and I spent one night at the historic palace. It is filled with artifacts and includes a museum. Reigning royalty resides in a wing of the palace and you can see the owner's horses being exercised in the courtyard just outside the palace. If you want to stay in a heritage hotel that has excellent service and amazing surroundings, this is the place. We were greeted at reception by a gentleman with the most amazing mustache and dressed in desert safari clothes. We kept looking for Indiana Jones to appear as the treasures displayed were truly museum worthy. The entire property is magnificent. Our only regret is that we stayed in the new wing where aluminum framed doors and windows spoiled the charm but did not impact the comfort of our stay. Just steps away when you exit is the compact, winding streets of the Jaisalamer village bazaar. As two women traveling alone, we felt safe, secure, and received wonderful service.

Room Tip: New wing has clean comfortable rooms but without the historic charm.
