This is a relatively new hotel built to look like an older heritage building but whilst some of the public areas appear grand, the rooms are relatively basic. Additionally, the hotel doesn't really seem to have grasped the idea that rooms should be cleaned - we stayed for 2 nights and our room was never serviced at all.
They have built a new pool which looks very smart but there were no chairs or loungers around the pool and nowhere to change/get towels etc, which I think sums up the property - it's all about first impressions and less about the practicalities.
Breakfast on our first morning was barely adequate although the dinners were pretty good and interesting and the saving grace of the hotel really was the staff in the restaurant who were lovely.
It's interesting to see other reviews said the service was efficient and the hotel has a lot of charm. We found neither efficiency nor charm.
