It was a quickly worked out trip plan for our office trip, a group size of about 28 people. We did not have many expectations built up, for the price of 950 per head, including bed, and all meals for a day, it was a well priced offer. After a two hour drive from pune, we just entered the curved hilly pathways leading to this hotel, and man were we awestruck; remember when in movies you see buildings appearing amidst fog and almost perfect drizzle. It took a minute for the fog to clear, and for us to see the hotel building completely, and non of us wanted to leave that view and go inside. Well we did, and we did not have any surprises in there, not too bad, not too good, just what you need to spend a day in wilderness.
Given the fact that they have an absolute monopoly there, they are quite decently setup. We were fixed up in a couple of hotel rooms and five 3-bedded cottages. The hotel rooms were like a 2 star hotel, with basic amenities, tv, hot water(did not test that though), a decently made up bed and low/average interiors.
The cottages were a bare minimum, but neat enough to comfortable stay setup. We had one extra bed placed in each of the rooms. the rooms had 3 beds, an attached bath and stood in the middle on a green field in front of the main hotel building.
Hot water was provided there on request at a bucket per person basis. they had some wood burning heater setup somewhere behind the hotel. Took an hour or so and it is available only in the morning and evening.
Enough of the physical setup, and talking about the amenities - the food was excellent and i mean the lunch/dinner. Would not taste that nice here in pune city, but imagine sitting in that super cold atmosphere, where you look out of the window and see clods kissing the glass windows, and then you feel the steam rising from your plate. the items on the menu were much more than a moderate attempt, and even though the cooks and entire staff is from the villages nearby, the food was tasty and quite presentable - everyone loved the eating experience. Place was clean and no shabbiness anywhere.
Breakfast too was not disappointing, and the tea tasted so goo, more credits to the ambiance and the chill in the air.
About the night sleep, you might be troubled by a few night flying creatures but nothing that a mosquito coil cant fix. the weather is soothing, and to top it off, you can imagine the pleasure of rain hitting the cement sheets and putting you to sleep.
Overall, an average hoteling experience, but an excellent trip, and a bunch of happy and relaxed souls coming back to pune.
