“Beautiful & Romantic location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 December 2010

The resort location is absolutely amazing. Some of the cottages are only some 10s of metres away from the valley, so the view from cottages is awesome. The resort is little remote, making it calm and also very romantic.
Rooms are not that great, they are average but kept very clean and all basic amenities are present. Food is also good. Room service is not very good, but everything is averaged out by the location.
There is a small manmade pond, its very romantic place, specially in the afternoon.
Overall its a good resort at great location.

“Hotel scores big on location, Average/Low on everything else”

It was a quickly worked out trip plan for our office trip, a group size of about 28 people. We did not have many expectations built up, for the price of 950 per head, including bed, and all meals for a day, it was a well priced offer. After a two hour drive from pune, we just entered the curved hilly pathways leading to this hotel, and man were we awestruck; remember when in movies you see buildings appearing amidst fog and almost perfect drizzle. It took a minute for the fog to clear, and for us to see the hotel building completely, and non of us wanted to leave that view and go inside. Well we did, and we did not have any surprises in there, not too bad, not too good, just what you need to spend a day in wilderness.

Given the fact that they have an absolute monopoly there, they are quite decently setup. We were fixed up in a couple of hotel rooms and five 3-bedded cottages. The hotel rooms were like a 2 star hotel, with basic amenities, tv, hot water(did not test that though), a decently made up bed and low/average interiors.

The cottages were a bare minimum, but neat enough to comfortable stay setup. We had one extra bed placed in each of the rooms. the rooms had 3 beds, an attached bath and stood in the middle on a green field in front of the main hotel building.
Hot water was provided there on request at a bucket per person basis. they had some wood burning heater setup somewhere behind the hotel. Took an hour or so and it is available only in the morning and evening.

Enough of the physical setup, and talking about the amenities - the food was excellent and i mean the lunch/dinner. Would not taste that nice here in pune city, but imagine sitting in that super cold atmosphere, where you look out of the window and see clods kissing the glass windows, and then you feel the steam rising from your plate. the items on the menu were much more than a moderate attempt, and even though the cooks and entire staff is from the villages nearby, the food was tasty and quite presentable - everyone loved the eating experience. Place was clean and no shabbiness anywhere.
Breakfast too was not disappointing, and the tea tasted so goo, more credits to the ambiance and the chill in the air.
About the night sleep, you might be troubled by a few night flying creatures but nothing that a mosquito coil cant fix. the weather is soothing, and to top it off, you can imagine the pleasure of rain hitting the cement sheets and putting you to sleep.

Overall, an average hoteling experience, but an excellent trip, and a bunch of happy and relaxed souls coming back to pune.

“Good Jungle resort with basic infrastructure but excellent location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2010

Had being to this resort recently on a Week end days. We were 14 friends all together left out to enjoy & trek the nature around. Surely Resort do not have any of the STAR aminieties neither we were there to inspect it. Also What do we expect in area like Bhimashankar which is under State forest department control. We were only there to trek out the Jungle/forest around. And that is What we did perfectly.

Aminities at the Hotel are comparable to any average hotel around but location around is really very good. Hotel area is around 175 aceres, still under development, totally submerged into the nature around. Like they have their own water sport lake (not in working when we visited in Jan), very good garden around, folwing stream from the area passes through the lake, Two temples at the distance place which work like a obserbatory over to the Hills. You can very easily trek the entire area. They have their own restaurant with average Quality food. We had veg buffet lunch which atleast our team enjoyed as we were totally hungry. Good people with average Service. Surely would recommend for people who can enjoy silent nature & forest around but Not for people looking out for a STAR resort.

“Shree from Vasai: Stay at Blue Mormon....Wonderful experience!!!!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 December 2009

Blue Mormon is the most appropriate place to experiance peace and jungle life in the vicinity.
We visited this place last January.
Cottages are clean and well maintained. Reasonable rates. I would say worth more for it's price.
Food is good. Especially "fried sukkha mutton".
You might be lucky to see deer at the small lake behind resort at Mid-night or very early morning.
You can go for a stroll in Bhimashankar forest with one of their staff member. Sighting "Shekra" ...The Giant Squirrel which is Maharashtra's pride is possible. Good chances to see different birds.
Blue mormon people have planted strawberries here and they are good. We had couple of them.
Peaceful atmosphere....One of the best for Jungle lovers.

“What a waste of lovely resources!”

The drive from Mumbai is fabulous and the location is terrific. But that's where the honeymoon ends. We were two families with three under-10 children, so we decided on taking up a 3-room cottage. The cottages in this resort are 'unspoiled'- which translated to travelesque means a lot of basic amenities are missing. Yes, hot water runs, but there are no tvs or air conditioners. And its proximity to nature means that as darkness falls, a lot of the surrounding winged wildlife starts paying the guests a visit. The first night, since we were clueless, we had a jungle safari in our rooms. we were further depressed on seeing the unwashed sheets and mangy blankets. The staff is helpful and the food average. But there is no room service here and we had to either drive, or trudge our way to the canteen in the main building by the gate.
We really ought to have stayed in the hotel rooms.

The location is terrific, and the altitude of the area means that we had deliciously cool weather during our stay there. But that was all that we appreciated there! and its not something Blue Mormon can take any credit for!

The resort charges Rs. 2500/- for the cottage and we all thought it was steep considering the lack of cleanliness and amenities. It is only monopoly that allows Blue Mormon to get away with this! Even one more half-way decent place in the vicinity will spell doom for this 'unspoiled' resort.
