We had the air-con bungalow. This is not a separate bungalow, but rather a room in a hous consisting of three other rooms. We payed 40000 rupies for seven nights, which is rather expencive. This price did not include breakfast.
The resort itself lies beautifully right on the beach. The beach right by the resort is not suited for sunbathing or swimming, but 200 ms to the north there is a small cozy beach.Unfortunatly it was raining most of the time we were there, and it is not much to do around the resort when the weather is like that. It is about 20 mins walk into Varkalas main street.
The room was OK, but we expected a little more for the price we paid. Big minus for us that it was no frigde in the room. We had some power black-outs when we where there, but it was mostly during the daytime, so it did'nt bother us too much. Spacious bathroom and a nice balcony with sea-view.
Food in the restaurant was somewhat boring. The menu lacked a bit of inspiration. There are restaurant nearby who serves better food.
The staff was superb. They went out of their way to make us feel comfortable. It is a small resort, and they made us feel like a part of the family.
All in all I recommend it because of the secluded location and the superb staff. But there are room for improvements both on the romms and in the kitchen.
