“Great Location, Friendly Staff, Clean Rooms”

This small resort is just south of the crowded Varkala Cliffs, and is located near a small beach. Our room was part of the "4 Room Coconut house", and had a private balcony and some great views of the sea. You go to sleep to the sound of the waves and wake up just a minute away from a morning dip in the sea.
Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Varkala, although it is pricey, the rooms are decent, the food is good and the location is perfect. The staff are also really friendly, and the manager is always ready to step up to help organize trips, taxis etc.

“It's a little piece of paradise!”

I can highly recommend Bluewater! Stunning location and view, very friendly staff especially the manager Rakesh! Its nice when you get the question the usual breakfast after two nights. I like the bamboo huts but they are cosy but a bit dark.

“Just what we needed”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 December 2011

We arrived here on Xmas eve to stay for a couple of days as a reward after a distinctly average stay at Periyar lake. After a six hour car journey it was great to have such a fantastic welcome. The first view of the sea and the whole layout of this small resort was breathtaking. The service is unobtrusive and there are no set times for meals, apart from breakfast.

The rooms are quite small and have a tree house feel about them and the shower and toilet were one of the best we had encountered on our two week trip.

Our Christmas dinner was a traditional Brahmin meal served on banana leaves. Unforgettable!

“Nice place - nice staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 December 2011

We had the air-con bungalow. This is not a separate bungalow, but rather a room in a hous consisting of three other rooms. We payed 40000 rupies for seven nights, which is rather expencive. This price did not include breakfast.
The resort itself lies beautifully right on the beach. The beach right by the resort is not suited for sunbathing or swimming, but 200 ms to the north there is a small cozy beach.Unfortunatly it was raining most of the time we were there, and it is not much to do around the resort when the weather is like that. It is about 20 mins walk into Varkalas main street.
The room was OK, but we expected a little more for the price we paid. Big minus for us that it was no frigde in the room. We had some power black-outs when we where there, but it was mostly during the daytime, so it did'nt bother us too much. Spacious bathroom and a nice balcony with sea-view.
Food in the restaurant was somewhat boring. The menu lacked a bit of inspiration. There are restaurant nearby who serves better food.
The staff was superb. They went out of their way to make us feel comfortable. It is a small resort, and they made us feel like a part of the family.
All in all I recommend it because of the secluded location and the superb staff. But there are room for improvements both on the romms and in the kitchen.

“Very pleasant stay with nice people”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 November 2011

Being seen by some of the good reviews in trip advisor, we decided to experience the stay at bluewater, even though it was the fag end of our trip to South India . We arrived in the middle of the night and was delighted to see some of the people waiting for us. It was a very warm welcome that we ever had across the travel in India . The cottages are simple and eloquent in their traditional wooden structure. In the night lulled by the sound of the ocean , we had had a very nice sleep. The service was excellent , thanks to the manager and his fellow staff members as each and every one was not second to one.

Definitely we will come back , thanks a lot for making our trip a really memorable one.
