After the other places we'd stayed in India, this was like going to heaven. The room was good-sized and had everything you'd expect in a nice U.S. hotel room. Even a bathtub! We arrived in the middle of the night after a delayed flight, and staff was there and ready for us. Room was clean and comfortable with working and quiet A/C and a mini-fridge, and even two comfy chairs and a coffee table. The breakfast buffet was very nice, but because we had gotten in so late we were also last-minute getting to there, so selection had narrowed. The only complaint was that it took forever to settle the bill (which had already been paid through Agoda), and the only charge was for one drink from the room fridge. There was supposed to be a travel desk, but there was no one there. We inquired about transportation to Kanyakumale. We had thought of taking the bus or train, but we were reassured that a taxi driver would take us to places to see enroute. We waited a very long time for driver to show up, and then he did not know English, and we didn't really know what to ask to see (our fault, as we should have looked at our guide book). We would have been much happier and saved a lot of rupees had we just gone out to check out the bus and trains ourselves, which were nearby. This lack of helpfulness from the staff in the morning was the only negative. One other thing was that I had emailed the hotel asking for someone to meet us at the airport, but never had any response. Fortunately, the small airport had a good prepaid taxi booking arrangement, and we were whisked into town in no time (given that it was something like 1 a.m. and no traffic).
