I have staied at Coconut bay in August for two weeks.
August is considered LOW SEASON but the temperature is fantastic, not too hot, not too humid, not too sweat and...the rates are much cheaper. You just cannot swim since waves are quite high and it would be too dangerous, but this is not the place to go for sunbathing and swimming.
This is a place to go for RESTING on your hammock, get ayurveda treatments, do yoga (morning) and meditation (evening).
GUESTS:
80-90% of the people are German/Austrian mostly undergoing ayurveda treatments.
QUALITY of the service is excellent:
RECEPTION
staff is kind, available and helpful.
WI-FI
is avaliable (tough sometimes the connection is slow) in the area around the reception and there is an aircon internet room with 3 pc always available.
SECURITY
The whole property is surveilled 24h by GUARDS, tough you'd never feel unsecure even without them.
YOGA
The master is teaching more then just asanas and available to any fuerther spiritual discussion or just advices.
FOOD
The quality is very good and the restaurant is open almost anytime. Waiters are funny and kind.
AYURVEDA
treatments: The quality of the therapists and oils used are very good.
The doctors could just put a bit more efforts in explaining deeply the why and how of the treatments.
LOCATION
Very good, in front of the sea with a private beach. Very nice and bright, not dark as other resorts of the area. It is possible to organize excursions but there is not really much to see close to the resort, a part from Trivandrum, Kovalam and the backwaters.
If you want to have a trip to the backwaters, possibly choose the full one-day or two days trip. The afternoon trip is ok but less interesting.
BOOKS
Ideal place to read books which you cannot find the time at home.
Books in English and German are avaliable at the yoga pavillon. Few books available in russian either.
LIFE AT THE RESORT:
I really suggest this place for people looking to rest. Take some nice books with you.
When you want you can stay alone there, when you get bored there are other interesting people to have lunch, dinner, excursions or just chat with. I suggest to attend the Yoga and meditation classes.
