Beautiful location, one of few on the cliff with lovely grounds. You can stay in rooms or private bungalows! The place is more of a guest house so no room service etc. But friendly staff, breakfast included and a perfect location to access all the beaches away from the hustle and bustle! Would stay here again for sure!

If you want to spend a leisurely vacation in a very picturesque yet reasonable resort - Krishnatheeram Resort is the place for it. The resort is a very compact property - so not much hopping around resort possible. But actually that's not needed. The best activity is to just retire into a hammock in the central lawn and have a good sleep under the sky. Or just pull out a chair closer to the sea and read a book for hours. That's what vacation in Krishnatheeram is meant to be.
Rest of the things in the resort are not so good. Amenities - not much. Rooms are quite compact with restrooms not so good.
Varkala beach is walking 5 mins - the shorter road is a bit adventurous for young ones. The beach sand is unique - it's a black beach.
But once again the location is a awesome - rarely we get an opportunity to sit in the resort lawn and overlook a 30 meter cliff to the sea at a distance of 10 ft! Yes, it's as breathtaking as that. The flip side of that is: parents watch out for the kids. They should not get close to the cliff - there's no barrier to the cliff.
Overall - the resort is very reasonably priced compared to it's location.

we stayed 4 nights at krishnatheeram in october,2011.we stayed in the cottage nearest the ocean and it was very romantic with the candle lit dinners in the garden and the sound of the waves from our room.the staff is extremely friendly and the service is excellent-they really make you feel at home and create an ambience that is very difficult to leave.after traveling from pondicherry to tanjore to madurai-arriving at this peaceful resort was a wonderful experience.the ayurvedic clinic next door is also impressive.
