I spent 5 blissful days at Mathews Yoga Homestay - my first time for a homestay and my first time doing yoga twice a day. I enjoyed it all immensely- the pace, the beautiful setting amongst the tea plantations, the FOOD(!), and Mathew- a wonderful host. If you're looking for a place to catch your breath, enjoy twice daily yoga and meditation practice, and basically recharge your batteries (healthy interlude!) - this is it. I also benefitted from Mathews Kerala travel suggestions - always great to get ideas from someone who lives there. Absolutely loved it.

Matthew has built a lovely home in small village off the tourist trail. The accommodation was great and matthew was the perfect host - we appreciated his meal time chats and yoga/mediation classes. The village is not much but there are scenic walks to do and tea plantations in the area that offer a low key non tourist alternative to Munnar, this an ideal place to stop for a few days and relax, re-energise for the bigger cities.

“Be Here Now!”

We spent 6 days/nights at Mundax with Matthew and Agi and found this time to be precisely the low pressure, relaxed yoga environment we were looking for. The daily order was flexible enough to accommodate our 1 year old's schedule but structured enough so we made sure to practice yoga twice every day and have plentiful time to enjoy the delicious food!

Matthew's house is lovely, clean, and located in a very pleasant little town in the mountains. Though we primarily came for the yoga and relaxation, we found it quite easy to take day trips to several locations in the area including the tea factory, spice farm, tiger nature reserve (sign up in advance for treks!), ayurverdic hospital, local village market etc. We particularly recommend Bijou as a driver as his English is excellent and he can provide interesting information about the surrounding area. We also very much enjoyed walking through the nearby mountain tea plantations.

The personalized type of yoga retreat that Matthew has created is a very supportive place to learn or improve your yoga without any type of pressure. We found it comfortable to progress at our own pace and highly recommend a visit to anyone looking to bring more awareness into his/her life!

“Great Place for Recharging”

Thank you, Mathew and Agi, for being wonderful people/souls. (ps - I first wrote 'wonderful hosts', but that did not do justice as you are much more than that). We loved every part of our 5 day stay at Mundax: your company, the yoga and meditation, the accommodation, the food, the homely and friendly atmosphere. Also want to mention Biju, the really knowledgeable taxi driver who kept us informed and entertained with his stories.

We would recommend your place to anyone who is looking for a peaceful retreat, the perfect anti-dote to the hustle and bustle of a busy city.

“Awesome !”

I spent one-week yoga retreat at Mundax and it was really amazing. As a female solo traveler, I have to be really careful with the places I choose... I was alone with Mathew in this (oh so beautiful!) big house and I never felt threatened, uncomfortable or anything. Mathew was so respectful and natural.

What I liked the most was to sit on my porch and look at the sun, the trees flowers and the Nature around. Mathew is very flexible regarding the yoga and meditation schedule and would adapt to my choices. I would totally come back for another retreat !!!
