“Pleasant stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

The resort is really nice, with lots of exotic trees and plants everywhere and we had our own little cottage. Staff are nice enough. Breakfast buffet was good. Free wifi but only in the reception area. The downside to this resort is the spa, the staff were trainees and very inexperienced and the spa itself was very basic for the hotel - disappointing!

“Amazing hotel! Unfortunately the spa lets it down!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

Would recommend this hotel, but not the spa! The staff at the spa are only trainees and unfortunately are not very professional! The treatment room was very basic and was not comfortable at all ! I had a facial and ended up with a severe rash despite informing them I had sensitive skin. It was the first time I could not wait for a spa treatment to be over !! Overall amazing resort!

“HEAVEN ON EARTH”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012

Rt from the reception team down to the entire staff were excepitionally gracious & helpful. The meandering cottages were well furnished & decorated. Provision of hot water bottles were added luxuries specially since I had injured my foot earlier.Evening live performances were amazing. The variety of food catered to everybody's palate. Will definetly visit again & recommended to family & friends.Sorry--- but need more pamphlets to purchase for the slide show of the animals shown to us.

Room Tip: do not know of other options.mine was excellent

“Delightful mountain retreat”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

We were warmly welcomed at the Spice Village. Accommodation is in bungalows in the extensive grounds which are well equipped - the bathroom in our bungalow could do with updating but that is my only criticism. They obviously thought the lower temperatures at night might be a problem and we found hot water bottles in our bed one night! The hotel offered complimentary tours as well as chargeable tours. We went to a cookery demonstration one evening and were then treated to a dancing display. Food in the buffet restaurant offered an extensive choice of food which was very good. The staff were typical of the CGHearth group - charming and helpful. Spice Village was well situated within an easy walk of the town with its choice of spice shops, souvenir shops etc. Would definitely recommend a stay here

Room Tip: I think all the bungalows were pretty similar

“As good as it sounds”

Lovely relaxing place to stay. We stayed for 2 nights and could have done with longer to visit Periyar and the spice plantations. We recommend the 4 pm tour by the enthusiastic naturalist around the gardens -not many people took this up so we had our own private tour!

The cookery demonstrations are a treat, and the smaller outside restaurant with live music is a lovely way to spend the evening.
