Something is not right at this guesthouse. When i arrived there were a bunch of young Indian guys just sitting around - all around 25, it felt like a boys dorm. one of the indian guys was lounging in a corner with a foreign girl and moved away from her when i walked in. I was told to pay for my room upfront, because Ashik, the manager needed money to pay for the laundry guy who had just arrived. I begrudgingly relented because it was late and i didnt want him to have to go to the bank (why was i concerned about him again?) and instead of giving me my change, he told me he needed to keep the money for the next night because he needed more money for the laundry guy. I was too tired to argue and told him to give me my money back in the morning. In the morning, ashik, told me i looked tense and under the pretense of an "energetic relaxtion technique" that he was supposedly studying with a "local master" he came into my room and within minutes he was on top of me. i pushed him away and screamed at him to get out. I could see he was aroused from the ordeal and he didnt immediately leave until i started screaming. he came back a few minutes later with a wallet stuffed full of 1000 ruppee notes, potentially to bribe me? i left immediately. i told the italian woman who co-runs the place what happened and she did nothing to help calm me down, or deal with him. i probably should have called the police but i was staying in town at another guesthouse for a few days and there were so many young boys at the guesthouse, i didnt know who would recognize me and what they would do if i had called the police. the rooms are big and clean, but seriously every other house here is a home stay. it is not worth your hassle or your safety to stay here and the only way they will be able to see that they cant take advantage of travellers and get away with it is for people to stay away. Good luck to you all and be safe.
