“Nice but you pay for everything!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 March 2011

I stayed at Sithara for 2 days in February. The room was clean and the place was nice and central. The couple in charge was very cute and accommodating. I liked the experience overall but at the end, I got a bill with extras that I thought were included in the price, like breakfast, water and Internet. Overall, it was very pricey and I could of stayed somewhere else for half the price. So just know what you pay for.

“If you want to feel like staying with a family stay there.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 March 2011

Arriving at Sithara I was ill and Varun, the son of Harry John, the owner of the homestay brought me to a Doctor and was a big help for me. So at the first moment we felt we are in good hands. And that was true. Every member of the family was trying to make us feeling at home.
Sithara is located near Bishops house and its a bit out of the very touristic area even erything is near. It has a nice green yard, where we had our breakfast and meals on a nice veranda. And Mercy the wife of Harry John must be one of the best cooks in Kerala. We got the most delicious meals in our entire India trip (yet 10 weeks in South India).
Harry John is not only a very warm-hearted person but also a wonderful adviser what to do in Fort Kochi, he told us about the best Kathakali performances and gave us very good tips about other places to stay in Kerala.
There are just three rooms which are clean and quite big. The best one I suppose is facing the yard and its actually two rooms plus a very small one to keep the luggage, it has also a balcony.
Sithara is not the cheepest place in Fort Kochi but its worth every Rupie it costs.

“Nice place, excellent service and hospitality beyond our expectations!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 March 2011

After 5 1/2 week in India we ended up at this cozy little place in the heart of Fort Cochin for the last 2 nights. This was our first stay at a Homestay during our journey, and we were surprised that a small place like this could give us so much. Harry and his family are wonderful people that really cares for their guests! If you are looking for luxury, find something else. If you are looking for hospitality, kindness and warm hearted people - this is the place!

“A truly memorable experience in the heart of Fort Cochin”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 February 2011

Spent 3 days at Sithara in February on our first visit to India. Our A/C room was cool and comfortable and mosquito free.
Harry and his wife made us very welcome and we ate at the homestay each evening.
Mercy is a wonderful cook. Harry organized our transport and a Kathakali evening and we were able to come and go as we pleased.
We returned to Sithara on out last evening, watched the sunset and ate another excellent meal. A truly memorable experience in the heart of Fort Cochin

“Lovely stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2011

Harry and his family are incredibly welcoming and make there home an ideal place to stay when in Fort Kochi. We spent four wonderful days there where we had fantastic home-cooked breakfasts, prepared by Harry's wife and served by his son. We also had the best meal we'd had in our five weeks in India on our last night in Kochi, again prepared by Harry's wife. We wished we'd had every evening meal there. Harry will organise Kathakali theater tickets for you, transport, a houseboat and anything that you might need. We cannot recommend Sithara Homestay highly enough!
