“High quality hotel in the heart of Cochin.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 February 2012

I only stayed here one night due to a booking problem at another hotel (see my review of the Secret Garden in Cochin). I really liked it. I was greeted with a floral garland and a cool coconut drink. My room was large and facing onto the street but was very quiet. It had good aircon, TV and tea making facilities. It was very clean with a bathtub room and good shower with hot water (not always the case in Indian hotels!). It's in a great position very close to the centre of town. Really helpful staff. Breakfast is served on a roof terrace with a cool sea breeze blowing in. Usual stuff - coffee, toast, fruit, eggs - served to a good standard. I can see why this won the readers' vote for Trip Advisor 2011. One thing I noticed in Kerala was how important Trip Advisor is to them - every hotelier seems to mention it and is keen that you post positive reviews. Obviously this isn't always possible, but the Arches deserves its accolade. For ambience I preferred my previous hotel but the Arches felt more like a high standard modern hotel. I'd be happy to stay here again.

“Deserves The accolades.”

A wonderful warm hotel feels like you work in to the Victorian past! For business not the best no reliable internet no proper TV –Channels, but for holiday or honeymoon a must visit!

“Ideal situation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 February 2012

We stayed for two nights at the start of a tour of Kerala. We were given a warm welcome when we arrived and given a small but adequate double room at the front of the hotel. Everything was extremely fresh and clean. Contrary to our expectations there was tea and coffee making equipment in the room, effective air con, free wifi and even an electric plug adapter. The rooftop restaurant had a lovely feel to it and the staff couldn't do enough. The fish we had was beautifully cooked, although the atmospheric lighting meant we could hardly see it! The hotel's position was perfect; two minutes walk from both the sea front and the town. Despite this it was very quiet at night. It deserves the Tripadvisor award that it proudly displays!

“living up to expectations”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

We stayed her for one night due to one of those booking problems one has in India. I noticed it was awarded 'travellers choice 2011' by trip advisor and lives up to the expectations of that. There is a level of professionalism in the running of this place often lacking in Indian hotels. The rooms are not huge but very comfortable and quiet and the management are very attentive to detail and guest requirements.
If its full don't however let them fob you off to the Fort Muzuris B&B. This is a C grade guest house leased by the management. I'm not sure why they are threatening their reputation by doing this.
