I only stayed here one night due to a booking problem at another hotel (see my review of the Secret Garden in Cochin). I really liked it. I was greeted with a floral garland and a cool coconut drink. My room was large and facing onto the street but was very quiet. It had good aircon, TV and tea making facilities. It was very clean with a bathtub room and good shower with hot water (not always the case in Indian hotels!). It's in a great position very close to the centre of town. Really helpful staff. Breakfast is served on a roof terrace with a cool sea breeze blowing in. Usual stuff - coffee, toast, fruit, eggs - served to a good standard. I can see why this won the readers' vote for Trip Advisor 2011. One thing I noticed in Kerala was how important Trip Advisor is to them - every hotelier seems to mention it and is keen that you post positive reviews. Obviously this isn't always possible, but the Arches deserves its accolade. For ambience I preferred my previous hotel but the Arches felt more like a high standard modern hotel. I'd be happy to stay here again.
