Stayed on 2 separate nights during our tour of Kerala. It is on Willingdon Island and whilst this was a longer drive from airport, we found it quite well placed for visiting Fort Kochi or for travelling on to Allepy. Friendly staff, large comfortable rooms. Bathrooms slightly tired but full bath provided. Buffet dinners offered wide choice and eat as much as you like. However on second evening, we were the only people in the restaurant and although the band were there, they obviously decided it was not worth playing just for us! Good size pool however got badly bitten by Mosquitos in the early evening. There was some kind of union demonstration outside the hotel when we left, which was slightly un-nerving but all was fine. Overall we found this to be a relaxing, quiet location with good food for breakfast and evening.

The location is away from the bustle of Kochi/Ernakulam on one hand and the old fort area on the other. However communications are frequent and inexpensive. Auto rickshaw, Taxi and Ferries are available.We find the name "Casino" misleading, this is not a flashy, glitzy "palace", but a quiet, well kept Hotel. The staff is friendly and obliging. If we go back to Kochi, we will return to this moderately priced Hotel. The bathroom amenities were presented in little terracotta ware, plastic is totally avoided, (except for payment!)

I stayed at the casino hotel recently with friends. The place has its own rustic charm and old world feeling but the hotel is in dire need for someserious renovation. The services levels and friendliness of the staff are above average. The sea food restaurant is a great place in terms of food and ambience. The all day dining requires a make over. The house band plays fabulous music. Overall it was a pleasant experience.

On our tour of India through mid-range hotels, the bathroom in the Casino Hotel was by far the best. Well-lit, large shower with amazing water pressure, and plentiful toilet paper. This earned them some serious points in my book.

he room itself was nice as well and the breakfast buffet was great (the fresh juice blending station was a nice touch). The location though, kind of sucks. Its on Willingdon Island, which is in the Bay between Kochi (at the tip of a peninsula) and Ernakulum on the mainland. To get to Kochi you can take a 20-rupee rickshaw ride to the ferry dock and then a 2-rupee ferry ride (every 25 minutes, alternating between Mattancherry and Fort Kochi) or you can pay 100-400 rupees (depending on your bargaining skills and mode of transportation) for a rickshaw/car ride into town. There really isn't anything around the hotel, except for a restaurant or two, so if you're looking to be in the center of the action, this probably isn't the place.
