The Lotus Hotel has a lot of good things going for it -- not least of which is its location just outside of town and the consequently peaceful ambiance.

The walk to the town center is an easy 8 minutes mostly downhill. The walk back is a little longer and more arduous but not unreasonably so.

Water is hot morning and night (possibly all the time, I didn't test it) and the shower produces a pleasing stream not a mist. The room is not well noise-insulated and lobby sounds and garden sounds are loud and clear. They often start at 5 am and continue sporadically all morning. Voices are generally subdued but clear. I only ate breakfast at the hotel but the omelets were good. I did ask several people who ate lunch and dinner at the hotel and the consensus was that their meals were average at best.

After a few days in a front room I requested a room at the rear of the hotel and it was much quieter. Unfortunately, it was not in the area of the sporadic wifi. I left for a day and they gave me the same quiet room on my return. The bed had been made by a real novice - the bottom sheet made it only 90% of the way to the foot of the bed and the top sheet only half way.

A very pleasant garden is offset by the numbers and frequency of cigarette smokers. No smoking inside is good -- not least for fire prevention. But, especially at meal time, the air was thick from many sources. A non-smoker doesn't stand a chance.

The hotel has posted internet and wifi rates but the manager insists the wifi is broken. Nevertheless, sporadically during the day, there is wifi access. Considering that the Lotus Hotel is rated third best business hotel in Leh (on this site), one would expect them to make more of an effort. I would not place them anywhere in the business category.

The Cable package was good. I slept well here. Overall this hotel is a good home for a stay in Leh.

Lotus hotel is situated 5-7 Kms from Leh Airport & has facility of pick & drop from the airport. The room trarrif & Food cost is quiet reasonable.The rooms are neat & clean with wooden flooring.The place is very quiet & peaceful. All rooms are fitted withTata Sky for your comfort.The staff is very coopeartive and serve you with a smile. The best thing is that the restaurant starts as early at 5 am & closes at 11.00 pm. The quality of food is very nice.The hotel has a graden sitting arrangement where one can have breakfast or enjoy some drinks.The Market is about 5- 10 minutes walking distance from the hotel.The hotel also provides Wi-Fi connectivity for net surfing.
The only negative thing about this hotel is non availability of ALA CARTE.The hotel has a fixed menu.

I chose this hotel for our stay after a lot of research. We were a group of 6 people and really enjoyed our stay. The staff was very amicable. They always had a smile on their faces and were ever-ready to help us / guide us / serve us. The property is also wonderful - esp. their garden and terrace areas. As other reviewers have also noted, their apple trees are quite a delight! The only downside was that rooms become a little stuffy during the daytime. It would be great if they could add fans to the rooms to help with air circulation. But, overall, completely loved it and would stay here again when we return.

Although the hotel is not very near to the market place I would still recommend for the wonderful hospitality and service provided.

Food is good and served with a smile.

Rooms are neat and clean with all facilities.

Loved the apple and rose plants in the garden.
