“Hadimba Cottages - Sweet & Sour”

We had a 3-4 day trip planned for the weekend before Valentine's and ofcourse, 30% winter discount looked nice enough!
The booking was made via hptdc online portal and everything looked appealing, I must say...independent cottage for privacy, far away frm the hustle bustle of the mall road, kitchen with equipment to make your own food and all..

We reached the hotel quiet early in the morning. Being an off season, we did not have any problems about early check in as we were the only people at that time.
The boy helped us by showing us different cottages as we really wanted a quiet one(cottages are built in sets of 2, so if u have anyone staying in the adjacent one, u r bound to be listening to them or vice versa).
We liked the extreme top one, but unfortunately, the water wasnt there. So we moved to the 2nd from top.
Thankfully, we had plans to cook ourselves and the snow fall started the 2nd day.
My disappointment with the kitchen were all stained utensils which looked as if they were seldom cleaned!!!

The rooms were basic and clean, i did however expected better out of kitchen.
Do bear in mind that no housekeeping/kitchen cleaning happens. Even if you ask for it, they will tell you to either do it yourself or ask you to tip them 50 bucks a day to do it for you!!! Wierd especially when the website says nothing of this...

On the last day, I had some cooked and a lot of raw food material like oil, veggies, chicken, rice etc which i asked the boy to take it for his personal use if he wants.
A moment after, when we were checking out, the disaster struck when i was to pay the balance amount...
1. They refused to take credit card(though website says they do accept CC)
2. I somehow collected all cash i had and then was told to add 50 rs as i cooked myself and the last day before leaving, I had not washed the utensils. We carried minimal cash and debit cards(only for street food, street shopping and groceries), we are more of CC users..they literally left us with no money for our way back home to Delhi!!!

I went there for some peace, quiet, snow, value for money(off season) and because of my patronage for hptdc...
I may return to manali again, but Hadimba Cottage is off my list for sure!

We Stayed in hadimba cottages from 3rd Dec'10 to 7th Dec'10. We booked all our travel and stay in manali through HPTDC office at chennai. First thing i want to appreciate HPTDC for their excellent tourism service through out himachal. Hats off to them. Coming to Hadimba cottages, itz really a pleasant stay here. Very comfortable, very calm place to stay. it is a wooden cottage and there are 12 cottages totally with 2 cottages are built adjacent to each other. It has a reading/dining room in the entrance, a beautiful kitchen with basic utensils, gas connection and stove, marble floored attached bathroom and an wonderful double cot bed room with a heater, TV and phone. We cooked almost on all the days and enjoyed the home feel throughout in Manali(hadimba cottages). The reception person is very kind and really very helpful. The cottage is very Clean, comfortable and gives us a homely stay. We can hear little sounds from the adjacent cottage but it is very little and within limit. However we enjoyed the nature, its sounds over here nicely. It is situated 2 kms from The mall road and we get autos round the clock. Hadimba devi temple is walkable distance from here. we didnt order any food here as we prepared ourselves. Finally i would like to say Hadimba cottages will be a heaven and give a marvellous and wonderful feel for people who want to enjoy their trip leisurely by cooking themselves.

Thanks,
Ram and Priya[--]

“Excellent place, Very spacious - value for money”

My husband, seven year old daughter and me from Mumbai visited Shimla, Fagu, Kullu and Manali . As this was a highly recommended hotel within a reasonable budget, we had chosen this. We were very happy when we saw the rooms. These are cottages which are modelled in the form of log huts with actual woodden logs put outside. The thing that surprised us was that there was in each cottage 1 bedroom, 1 dinning room and also 1 Kitchen . The room was very comfortable with a good working heater and warm water even coming in the bathroom wash basin. The Kitchen had some basic utensils and a gas, fridge which we used occasionally to make Maggi etc. The view from the Hotel was ok but it was very close to all the major tourist locations like Van Vihar Hadimba temple etc. The only downside isthat the Hotel does not have a restaurant/ canteen. So all food including breakfast will either need to be prepared by you in the kitchen or do a take out/ eat out. We prepared Maggi for breakfast and used to eat out during the day. Good helpfull staff - overall a great experience

“Great place...”

We travelled to Manali without any booking, and with a limited budget!

We decided on the fly to travel to Manali. We took a bus from Delhi, and reached Manali in about 14 hours. On our way, we called some hotel (Log Huts) and booked a room for one night. Reaching Manali, we checked in Log Huts. It was relatively expensive for our budget trip (Rs. 2200/- + taxes per night for a meagre room).

So we slept there overnight, and roamed in Manali in search of a better (and cheaper) place. Asking for good veg food, we were guided by locals to a place where we saw this Hadimba Cottage!!

We enquired the rates. Wow. 700/- a night (no taxes). We checked the room. Wow, cozy. Though not very spacious, but cozy. We checked the bathrooms. Wow, clean. Very clean. We checked the view. Wow again. Over seeing the Hadimba temple and the mountains, the view from the balcony was amazing.

We decided to check in instantly.

The best part of this hotel (at least for Veg lovers) is that there is a very good veg restaurant right below this place. You get the "best" aaloo parathaas there.

Named after Manali's famous Hadimba Temple and ringed by enchanting deodar wood, the cottages have a delightful view of the Beas Valley. These cottages are ideal for those who seek privacy and a touch of solitude.
The cottage is situated just 2kms from mall road and yet has very quiet surroundings. There is a lot of greenry around and a beautiful garden.
