I stayed at the emblem hotel with 10 members of my family in October 2011. Overall I was very satisfied with the hotel itself, the rooms, the service, the friendly staff. We really had a good time there. Some luggage left in some rooms were opened while we were away but I suppose this happens in quite a lot of hotels.
I would have written an excellent review based on our stay but we had an unpleasant experience with the minibus we hired to transport all of us to Agra, Jaipur and back to Delhi.
I had booked the vehicle through the hotel to avoid the hassle about car rentals in India. The minibus was provided by a different company but we reserved it through the hotel.
To summarize, on the first day of the trip we were with family members (indian nationals) that communicated with the driver and we had no problem.
The second day, we were on our own and problems started when the driver (who changed since the previous day) tried to convince us that most sites of Delhi were closed on sunday, probably so he could have a relaxing day talking to his buddies in the car park.
Day 3, the driver was about 2 hours late when we were supposed to leave early to Agra. We were hoping to see the Taj Mahal that day and could of course not since we got there so late. He took us all around Delhi before heading towards Agra. When asked why, he said that it would cost more taxes to leave directly to Agra....We left Delhi about 4 hours after the planned schedule.... We also had to stop on the way for him to have lunch while we were already very late.
After a talk to him and with the presence of guides, things got quieter in the next days.
The last day, he dropped one of our suitcases from the roof of the minibus and it got completely destroyed. When we arrived at the airport, we were told that we had exceeded the 1000km that we paid for by 350 km and that we had to pay 30% more than the original planned price. Even if we had done the tour of the whole city on the first and second days, we would have reached about 1000 km so it's impossible that we drove 350km more without noticing it.
In the end I paid a fortune to call my family in India so that they call and discuss with the hotel manager. Finally, Mr Birla, the manager of the hotel decided to cover the expenses himself.
In the end I paid a fortune in telephone, had to replace a suitcase and had to fight not to pay extra km we didn't ride.
This might just be the fact of the car company or the hotel could be involved in this.. Maybe Mr Birla really covered the extra cost... but we'll never know and if he really did, he should then really find other business partners for his clients.
It's very unfortunate because we had a great experience at the emblem hotel and this left a bad taste in our mouths. Even though this is not due to the hotel directly, I booked the transportation through them and it was therefore, in my opinion, their responsibility to make sure everything went well.

Dear Sebwv,
Greetings from Emblem Gurgaon.
It would like to start with apologize for the inconvenience caused due to our transport arrangement. Our first priority is guest satisfaction and clearly your experience was not satisfactory, but we appreciate your cooperation on last day of your trip. I would like to inform you that our hotel doesn't have a mini-van and since you had a special request we had to arrange it from our out-source through our vendor. Since this was the first time lot of glitches happened resulting delay in van timing, extra charges ( which has been taken care by hotel). The management has taken your feedback seriously and we have immediately remove the company from our vendor list to ensure such things can be dismissed and our guest can experience same hospitality what we offer in our hotel.
Emblem Hotel Gurgaon takes pride in serving their guest and we once again our thankful for providing the opportunity to serve your guest on your weeding occasion.
Assuring you best of our services
Warm Regards
Dharmesh Birla
