We booked for a family of 4. Very disappointed to be allocated a double bed and a thin mattress on the floor. The TV did not work and shower did not stay on. Power cut out twice during stay. On a positive note, the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. More of a business/conference hotel for locals.

It was the worst experience ever. We had checked in early after getting off the train & they NEVER mentioned it was 24 hour check out- therefore we were expected to check out exactly 24 hours later. We would never have stayed otherwise. We tried to negotiate the time and even were willing to pay for a late check out but it they were charging a full night rate to check out just a few hours later!!!!

During this discussion the desk staff were really aggressive, threatening ( shouting, banging counter) and I felt downright terrified in this hotel!! Never experienced anything like it in all my significant travels in India. After the 'run- in' with the desk staff my husband popped out to get water and soon after housekeeping came banging at the door despite the do-not-disturb sign and that fact we had just checked in and had not requested any service. I really felt it was a move to intimidate me as they would have seen my husband step out.

The bathroom was very run down and shower was a mere drip. All the room are smoking even though they tried to pass them off as 'non smoking'. It was evident that the room we were given was smoking and when we said this. We were told it was non smoking despite there being a very strong smell of smoke and an ashtray in the room. When I pointed this out I was aggressively told by the bell boy that 'All Indian men smoke" while still maintaining it was a non smoking room!!!!!!!

My recommendation is to avoid, avoid avoid.

We were met at the airport and taken to the hotel in a lovely car far superior to most Indian transport. The driver drove calmly and carefully (very unusual, almost no hooting). The whole ambiance was beautiful and the decor of the room was impressive. The only problem was the noise. The hotel is very close to the station and the trains seem to hoot all night. The 24 hour check out was great for us as we had arrived late at night and so we didn't have to worry about leaving in a hurry next day.

Ritz went out of their way to ensure I was safe since I was travelling solo woman. Anyone making a reservation at Ritz should be aware that they provide free transportation to/from the airport and the train station, which is a great advantage. There is a bakery within the hotel that is delicious, worth trying out.
