“Overall friendly staff. Ideal for a relaxed beach holiday.”

First impressions were, what a lovely lush tropical setting. Our first meal was in the beach shack called Calamari, owned by Santana. Wonderful food! The service can be slow but sit back and enjoy the ocean view, remember you are on holiday.......relax! Sunbathe by the pool with a waterfall feature or relax in the lush gardens or use the comfy sunbeds on the beach supplied by Calamari, so long as you eat and drink there you can stay all day!

The hotel is handy for a walk along the beach to neighbouring Calangute and Baga. Buses are cheap and if you are up for an adventure you can hop on and go to the local markets or nearby Panjim, via a free ferry ride. Also you can walk up to the local Fort.

We found 2 weeks wasn't long enough. We travelled in January as a couple and would definately consider returning in the future. The rooms have air-con and ceiling fans which was most welcome as the temps were over 30c in the day and 20c+ at night. Comfy beds and pillows too! Tea/coffee supplied and mini bar if you want. No hairdryer though, but the sun will dry your hair in no time!

Ask for a quiet room as there is a lane leading to the beach, which we were alongside in room 522 and we could hear scooters, dogs etc most nights. We used the air-con to drown out any noise.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room.

“Fantastic hotel and service!”

Spent 2 weeks here, 1st room we were given was a bit dark asked if we could change - no problem! Breakfast great the usual eggs but always a supplementary item such as beans, tomato or fruit offered and always served with a smile! 2 star hotel offering 5 star service! Gorgeous peaceful garden area! Didn't like calamari beach shack much but next shack to the left offers good food and service.

“Maybe we were just unlucky”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2012

Santana arranged our taxi pickup from Dabolim Airport. We were advised by E Mail more than once that the charge would be added to our final room bill. We arrive at 04:20 to find that nobody knows about this arrangement and we have to pay the driver direct. Not an auspicious start. Our room was OK but was accessed by very steep stairs which started immediately you stepped out of the door. Not particularly safe. We asked for extra pillow - 48 hours wait. The balcony, which overlooked next doors very noisy restaurant and water-pumping gear, was very small with two unfit-for-purpose chairs. They were ultimately replaced, only to disappear the next day resulting in yet another call to reception. The included Breakfast was diabolical resulting in us walking to a nearby restaurant each day. The Calamari beach shack offered us poor service and high prices. 17 loungers in the shady garden between all the guests. We chose Santana based on a 97% satisfactory score on trip advisor. I'm afraid we really must suggest that percentage comes down.

Dear Sir,

I am really sorry to hear of your experience with us in Santana Beach Resort. I was not aware of these issues while you were staying with us and in a way I wish you had brought them to my attention at the time - specially regarding your room as I would have definitely tried to shift you to a room of your preference.

We have addressed most of the issues you have raised - I have personally been attending breakfast for the past week and although I am not sure what you meant by 'diabolical' I have made a few changes and improvements that I saw necessary. The current in-house guests have all given me the 'thumbs-up' and told me that they love everything about it.

Regarding your issue with the taxi, pillow and chairs I have spoken to the concerned staff and hopefully it will not be repeated in future.

Lastly I am not sure what the issue with the sun loungers was - we actually have about 50 sun beds in total in the hotel - half around the pool at the back with the sunken bar and the other half on the lawns near the front pool. Both these areas are in full sun light most of the day except for where there may be the shade of a coconut tree or two. Again, if this had been brought to the attention of my staff at the time, I am sure they would have pulled the bed into full sunlight for you.

I apologise once again for the experience you had and please do email me at info@santana-goa.com if there is anything further I can do

Regards, Leanne

“Great Location...”

We stayed in Santana for 3 days between 14 & 16 Jan. The location of the property is excellent, staff is also very helpful.

You will not find many indian travelers here, that might be the reason they offer continental breakfast only. You will not find much variety in breakfast, only bread butter, juice and egg items are available.

The swimming pool is also very nice and clean. Overall a great property.
