It is the first time we have ever stayed in this hotel in Goa and we have been going for 7 yrs+.
The rooms are basic, but very clean - the staff are very nice and if you require anything the hotel do go out of their way to help. Recommended as ideal to go to all the bars and restaurants in Candolim, and 5 mins walk to the beach.

It's unfair when someone includes the word "Grande" in the title of something thats the exact opposite. The title is a rude joke not just to the travelers but also to the people working there. It proves 2 things - one either the management doesn't understand the meaning of the word "Grande" or they are trying to pull of a fast one on unsuspecting travelers using the internet. The rooms are depressing! the staff doesn't exist (or atleast for us they didn't) the food ordered off the menu makes you want to never eat again and I could go on and on but I think you should get the gist by now. This is one of those hotels, you don't even want to waste a minute reading about...just keep looking for another one.

i first went to India 38 years ago AND it was basic everywhere! it seems the amazingly named Alor GRANDE hasnt noticed the passing of the years ... what a dump! when i recovered from the shock of my first general scan around, i asked to see my room ... oh my God! i wouldnt let my dog stay in this room (and i dont even have a dog!) ... the manager did his obviously well rehearsed "what is wrong? all the rooms are the same .. this is the room you booked .. i do not understand the problem" .. that sealed it! (there were three people in our party booked into two rooms) the other couple were equally shocked so we formulated our plan.
We agreed under no circumstances would we stay in this place even if they paid us to so we got hold of the holiday rep (who was most helpful .. well done Shawn) and for a little extra money we were put into a place that was most acceptable to people with fairly normal expectations ... avoid the Alor at all costs ... one of my friends has photographs of the Alor and i think her plan is to tell her grandchildren that if they are naughty, this is where they will be sent .. be warned fellow holidaymakers ... Goa is great and Candolim is a nice town with great restaurants etc ... just do a bit of research ... i admit our choice was a bit rushed due to circumstances but at least i hope this makes your decision easier

Went with ny husband, and our friend travelled with us. W e all basically walked in and straight out after viewing our room. We've all travelled quite extensively. We understand basic, we experience this a lot but we can also recognise dirty, damp, smelly, black walls, utility sinks hanging off the walls, the bathrom never having had sight nor experience of bleach in a long time. We wouldn't have slept in a bed like that in a million years. The manager kept begging us to stay and offered us a better room the next day. Each room he showed us however was exactly the same as the last! Shaun, the cosmos rep, admited he had never actually seen the rooms but he was brilliant and immediately got us a transfer to the Highland beach resort, also classed as a 3 star (unbelievably, as there was no comparison), but we had to pay another £140 each. Cheap at half the price. Two other parties also requested a transfer on the same day. I can't understand why some of the reviews vary so wildly, other than perhaps they have some special rooms for selected guests? Please don't book it, it will ruin your holiday in Goa which is such a beautiful place with lovely friendly people.
