We stayed one night in this hotel as a stopover from Manali to Agra. We had the suite room which we found to be really good... large comfortable suite with 2units of 42" plasma TV.

There was added security on the day we were there as there was a scheduled reserve bank of India meeting the next day. Not much of an inconvenience as hotel personnel helped us.

Food was Ok at the restaurant though (coming from Singapore) we found eating an Indian buffet at a Chinese restaurant amusing.

Will probably go back to this hotel during my next trip.

I have been to Chandigarh many times and have stayed in Hotel Shivalik View also a couple of times, But only when i had to because all the other hotels were booked. Its features are as basic as a hotel can offer, like, air conditioning, internet access (wireless), in room safe, coffee/tea maker. Neither is the hotel very clean nor is the stay relaxing or comforting. i would not call it anything but a place to take shelter when all other options have failed.
Thankfully i had work and stayed out of the hotel all day, because just having to spend the night on those beds gave me a backache, so no wonder what would have happened if i had to stay during the day aswell.
Overall, i wouldn't recommend going there before trying out other places.

I would like to review the hotel on certain points:

- Location is fantastic, probably the dream one.
- Nice reception, I think they have made a new one.
- Rooms are quite plain and very old. You may be disappointed after having such a great location and reception.
- Breakfast is fine.

I think by doing some more with their rooms they can offer much more.

I visit this hotel regularly almost 3-4 times in a year for 3 days/visit.I have been staying hee since 2009
I like this hotel ,the ambience and the food here but during my last visit it was completely different.Food was not good and the varities were also very limited.The hotel is still under rennovation. I think it is nor almost two years since they stared rennovation.
Some of the front office staffs this time were BAD.
This time I did not enjoy my stay here.Also the quality of food and service of the hotel has detoriated since September 2011.

The rooms are now not organised properly and it is not clean now
