“We LOVED our stay!!”

After a week at Utila we made a last-minute decision to visit Tela. Having grown up in SPS I was hoping to book at Telamar however, given the holidays everything was full!! We rang almost every single hotel in the area and finally ended up reserving at Hotel Gran Central, little did we know this would make one of the best adventures ever!! The owners are AMAZING!! Our 3-night stay ended up being 72-hours spent getting to know Luc (who was a delight to talk to about culture, politics and living abroad!), his greek friend and owner of a little sea-food restaurant by the sea that is NOT to be missed !! Luc went out of his way to show us Pulhapanzak and Lago de Yojoa at a more than reasonable price and Véronique made sure our breakfast was nutritious, delicious and more importantly relaxing!! We loved our stay there and hope to go back sometime in the future!! This is not just a hotel but a wonderful human experience!!

“Takes deposit on reservation”

I did not stay at this hotel.
I did make a reservation which I cancelled in under 24 hours as we changed plans however owner still took usd 50 off card.

To be fair owner informed me of his practice in advance and held me to it. However this was not my typical experience of Honduras hotel owners and I would caution those who need flexibility when travelling.

Compare this to another owner in san Pedro sula who when I cut short my stay (we wanted a pool for Xmas day) actually rang up the other hotel to get me vastly reduced rate.

We finished our trip around Guatemala & Honduras by the town of Tela. Some friends told us about the GRAN CENTRAL…that it was very nicely decorated, that the french owners were very friendly and helpfull if we needed any informations on what to do or visit in the area !! No disappointment and more we established friendly links with Luc & Veronique (the owners). They don't know how to please you, always on the run to make things work…The rooms are very spacious, very nicely decorated and very clean whitch is nice to know !! You will enjoy a wonderfull breakfast in the backyard, in the middle of wild orchids and humming birds !! Enchanting…we said 3 days more !! A place to recommand to your friends

“Nice Rooms, but Overpriced”

The Gran Central is a nice old building that's been tastefully renovated. Rooms are large, with tiled bathrooms. The lobby/lounge area is very atmospheric, breakfast is good, and the French owners are charming. The hotel is a long way from the filthy beach and most of the dining options, and it's subject to street noise. However, it's secure, and for a night, which is about one night more than I'd ever give Tela again, it's adequate if a bit pricey.

Very charming hotel situaded in the heart of Tela. The owners are French and are very hospitable and offer very valuable information about all sites to see, things to do and what to watch out for. The rooms were very nice, newly renovated wit AC, TV and phone. Bathroom were well provided. The beds were firm and big, linnen new. Very safe
with a safe in the room. Our stay was for two days and we were very pleased with our stay there. We highly recommend that you consider to
stay there while you visit Tela.
