I took some time to reflect on our experience at Turtle Island before writing this review. It was magical! There are plenty of beautiful places on Earth but what separates Turtle Island is the staff. They are kind, hospitable and make your vacation feel as if you are visiting old friends at their private home. Each morning our Bure Mama Adi (9 years tenure) would sincerely ask how our night was and give us a hug. Adi and the rest of the staff were so warm and accommodating. We asked around how many years each had been working at Turtle Island and the typical response was 8-15 years. They would constantly tell us how proud they were of the island. The brochures do not highlight enough the true beauty of Turtle Island - the staff.
During our trip we had several special requests - I would have only non-alcoholic beverages, we would have an afternoon snack at 3pm, and our private wedding - to name a few. All were executed with perfection. The wedding in particular allowed the staff to shine. Alex, the general manager, gave us helpful recommendations on the time and location as it was the rainy season. The ladies handmade all our floral decorations and my bouquet. They were beautiful! We ended up rescheduling a couple of times and the response was always "no problem!" As much as we tried to avoid the rain it poured during our ceremony. The staff stayed with us and as we had our first dance in the ocean, Arthur sang, "You are my sunshine" a capella. Alex ensured that we would get dry sunset photographs so he had the photographer stay a few extra nights. Thank you! The photos were amazing!!
