my husband and I are experienced travelers who really enjoy vacations where you get into the rhythm of life of the place you visit. That is exactly what Matei Pointe offers. A simple but beautiful home in an exquisite location on Taveuni Island cared for by a wonderful extended Fijian family who do everything they can to include you in their loving embrace. Not a overpriced american style hotel and not for those who need staff bowing to their every need, just simple people proud of their home and happy without material greed. Being on the north point means both sunrise and sunset views from the Burre, naps with the tradewinds rocking you in the magic hammock, papaya and mango for the picking out your front door and sea kayaks to jump in and paddle out just steps away from the front door when you need a little exercise, not to mention snorkling with the groundskeeper while he spearfishes for your sashimi lunch! We had a magical trip.

Our son and his fiance got married in a ceremony at Matei Pointe Resort. The hotel staff handled all the arrangements. From the time we arrived we felt as though we were family. Their service was more than just accommodating.... they genuinely cared about us.
We were blown away by the beauty of the site from the very moment we arrived. The views from the bures were spectacular. In the morning we would awaken early, step outside our rooms and see the glorious sunrise. In the evening, from the same vantage point we could see the sunsets. We've never been in a location so beautiful. The grounds were exquisitely groomed. I can't even begin to describe the unique floral arrangements that they pulled together so magically on the days preceding the ceremony.
The day of.....we were all relaxed having had massages in the morning. We knew all would be taken care of. All the participants in the choirs and dances were local people who shared their talents and culture with us and made us feel so welcome. The lovo or feast that followed was delicious and all of our newfound friends helped us celebrate. The whole experience was truly magical. The bride and groom were thrilled with the ceremony and were sent off with leis on their surfing/diving honeymoon.
In addition to the wedding ceremony, we enjoyed hiking, snorkeling, visiting local villages on Taveuni and other islands and kicking back to enjoy the slower pace of the Fijian islands. We will always treasure the warmth and friendliness of the Fijian people. We highly recommend Matei Pointe Resort for a relaxing South Pacific experience.

My husband and I spent the first week of our honeymoon at matei pointe and couldn't have asked for a better place. The view from the sunset bura was amazing, you get the sunrise too. Pita and Lo are wonderful and accommodating hosts. The location can't be beat, across from the airport and next door to a good place to eat.
