Walking form the ship to the hotel took only a few minutes. Arriving there booked a room for the week paying 65 fiji$ per night for a room with air conditioning. (important in nov) A cheaper room is available for less but it wont have a view from the porch as nice or AC either. The staff here was very friendly and helpful. A post office and small grocery store as well as a small resturant are all located downstairs. As well as a small bar next door. Power is provided by a generator as are all other places on the island, since there is no Power Station on taveuni. There are also no cars for hire there and the nearby gas station is a fenced in lot with hand pumped barrels that have been offloaded from the ship.
There is a nearby fijian village that has a river running next to it. The rocks are super slippery forming natural waterslides under the waterfall. It is usually full of locals swimming washing sliding etc. It is a 10 minute walk from 1st light and is a must see for anyone staying there.
