“Great hotel, great staff”

Just arrived back from a week at the Movenpick. We had a super time. Upgraded to a beach front bungalow which was spacious, and very quiet and relaxing with own terrace and garden for private sun bathing. From the time we checked in to the time of leaving we cannot praise the staff enough. Everyone was sooo friendly and we had a great laugh (especially at the Seashells Restaurant - Arafa was so funny!) This surely has to be one of the best hotels in Taba? Although the 3hour taxi trip from Sharm airport was long, it was well worth it. Just from a personal note, there is no tea/coffee in room but only a few steps to beach bar or restaurant overlooking the beautiful sea and mountains. And then pick up a lovely ice cream on the way back. If you need a relaxing holiday we would recommend this, particularly if you are English as they really look forward to welcoming more English people.

“DO NOT stay at this hotel!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

I stayed at the Movenpick Taba for a week over the New Year, with my partner, a 1-year old and a 10-year old. There are a few exceptions however on the whole the levels of cleanliness are disgusting; resulting in all of us being extremely sick throughout our stay (and I never get sick!!); and the staff have no concept of service. We made the mistake of calling the hotel doctor for our 1-year old and paid for it dearly over the course of our holiday. I had to firmly refuse to being hooked up to a saline drip for an hour every 12 hours for 3 days and was told that by refusing I could well die during the night. I'm a 30-year old woman with no health problems - just a case of food poisoning caused by the hotel's dismal hygiene standards. We were upgraded to a deluxe room with a pool and ocean view which was lovely. However, if that was a deluxe we shuddered to think what condition the standard rooms must be in (I'll upload photos). It's such a shame as it is a gorgeous resort and it is obvious that a lot of money was invested in creating the hotel, however it is being managed extremely poorly and I would strongly advise against booking this hotel. When I have more time I will provide all of the details of this disastrous holiday (that we spent nearly £3k on I might add!). A snippet of what's to come: used, open needles thrown into our hotel (open) bin by the doctor (in full view of our children); while sick waiting 3 hours and making 3 calls for a room service menu; at 6pm watching chlorine get thrown into a swimming pool that closes at 8pm; no towels for the swimming pool at 4pm (although it closes at 8pm); being sworn at by restaurant staff; missing the New Years Eve Gala that we paid for as in the 4 days that we were at the hotel prior to New Years Eve we weren't given tickets or given any indication that tickets were required; seated at dirty tables in the restaurants (including one that had just opened for the day!); waiting 1 hour and making 2 calls to get a dustpan and brush to sweep a broken glass; doctor refusal to accept debit or credit card and frogmarching my partner to the bank to get cash; all inclusive drinks disgusting (a choice of squash, pepsi or alcohol); baby cot completely covered and held together by sticky tape; filthy baby chairs in restaurants; no drinks service during meals (self-service only); tatty kids club with the "carer" spending the whole time chatting on the phone, turned away from and completely ignoring children who were there on their own for the full hour that we were there; lots of grass around but none that you are allowed to walk on; a disco for children directly on top of some high-step marble stairs (neck-breaker!); no evening entertainment; repetitive menu. I could go on.

Room Tip: Request a room with a pool/sea view (if you have already booked - if you haven't booked yet: boo...

“A beauty spot.”

After reading few reviews I wonder if I was at the same place. Movenpick which I visited last week was clean and food delicious. Staff... it seemed to me that they were reading in my mind. My room on the third floor had a breath-taking view of pools, sea and mountains. Taba is a quiet place for people who want to have a rest without loud music and discos.

Of course I didn't like everything. The animation team. Perhaps someone is keen on them but my opinion is - they're lamentable. Obviously no one has to watch these performances so having good time depends on what you want to do. Three pools, beach, gym, spa, snorkeling (reef is amazing), diving whatever you want!

Many thanks to service and kitchen staff - specially to Hatem - one of our favourite waiters and the head chef.

I hope I'll be back!

“outstanding staff.”

I travelled with my disabled mum, elderly dad, a 3yr old & 2 children aged 11 & 14 both with adhd & autism. We stayed for christmas & we had no problems at all. It was a totally safe environment for my childredn & flat for my mum. Hotel was spotless. The extensive grounds were immaculate. The diving school were extremly professional. The food was so good i put on nearly 10-lbs to my slimming clubs horror lol, but what could I do when Chef Mohamed made such incredible food, it would have been rude not to eat as much as I could! I cant wait to go back. But I have to say that ALL the staff were extermly helpfull and so different from Luxor and Sharm where it was all about tips. Even the shop keepers in the Hilton shop centre did not hassle you like they do in other parts of Egypt. The staff in the Movenpick and people in Taba were all genuine and there was more class to them than my many experiences to Sharm. The staff made our holiday complete and perfect (especially chef Mohamed). THANX TO ALL THE STAFF AT THE MOVENPICK- WELL DONE!

“Overrated 5 star!!”

The Hotel is a nice structure but the service is far to be rated of a 5 stars. It is clear that there is not so much to expect from a location such as Taba, but it should be more fair for tourist a proper rating for a proper choice. Food is for sure very far from a good level, in terms of quality, variety and quantity. Same judging on the service of the "all inclusive". Finally just a comment: seems the actual level of other 5s Htl in Taba is almost the same of Movenpick, so it's better to go there with a low profile level of expectations :)

All Inclusive program includes Buffet Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, snacks and light meals
When buffet restaurant are preparing for next meals also includes a choice to dine around in the A LA Cart restaurant (Chinese and Shahrazad oriental)
