I stayed at the Movenpick Taba for a week over the New Year, with my partner, a 1-year old and a 10-year old. There are a few exceptions however on the whole the levels of cleanliness are disgusting; resulting in all of us being extremely sick throughout our stay (and I never get sick!!); and the staff have no concept of service. We made the mistake of calling the hotel doctor for our 1-year old and paid for it dearly over the course of our holiday. I had to firmly refuse to being hooked up to a saline drip for an hour every 12 hours for 3 days and was told that by refusing I could well die during the night. I'm a 30-year old woman with no health problems - just a case of food poisoning caused by the hotel's dismal hygiene standards. We were upgraded to a deluxe room with a pool and ocean view which was lovely. However, if that was a deluxe we shuddered to think what condition the standard rooms must be in (I'll upload photos). It's such a shame as it is a gorgeous resort and it is obvious that a lot of money was invested in creating the hotel, however it is being managed extremely poorly and I would strongly advise against booking this hotel. When I have more time I will provide all of the details of this disastrous holiday (that we spent nearly £3k on I might add!). A snippet of what's to come: used, open needles thrown into our hotel (open) bin by the doctor (in full view of our children); while sick waiting 3 hours and making 3 calls for a room service menu; at 6pm watching chlorine get thrown into a swimming pool that closes at 8pm; no towels for the swimming pool at 4pm (although it closes at 8pm); being sworn at by restaurant staff; missing the New Years Eve Gala that we paid for as in the 4 days that we were at the hotel prior to New Years Eve we weren't given tickets or given any indication that tickets were required; seated at dirty tables in the restaurants (including one that had just opened for the day!); waiting 1 hour and making 2 calls to get a dustpan and brush to sweep a broken glass; doctor refusal to accept debit or credit card and frogmarching my partner to the bank to get cash; all inclusive drinks disgusting (a choice of squash, pepsi or alcohol); baby cot completely covered and held together by sticky tape; filthy baby chairs in restaurants; no drinks service during meals (self-service only); tatty kids club with the "carer" spending the whole time chatting on the phone, turned away from and completely ignoring children who were there on their own for the full hour that we were there; lots of grass around but none that you are allowed to walk on; a disco for children directly on top of some high-step marble stairs (neck-breaker!); no evening entertainment; repetitive menu. I could go on.
Room Tip: Request a room with a pool/sea view (if you have already booked - if you haven't booked yet: boo...
