A week of being spoilt !
We booked last minute with Thomas Cook and choose Baron Resort based on reviews we had read and the location of the hotel. We were not disappointed..
TIPS:
If you have large notes of Egyptian currency that you want changing into smaller notes ask at the gift shop by reception at the end of a day. He is always happy to help even if you don't purchase anything.
If you are not happy about anything talk to guest services. They can't help if they don't know.
Make the most of your laundry vouchers, well worth using ! Leave it outside your door before 9am and it will come back the same day. Items are hung or folded imaculate. Shirts etc come folded to A4 in individual packets. Look shop new !! We had two vouchers so used one mid week and one just before we came home,
If your not one to join in with day time activities just tell the animation team and then they won't hassle you to join in.
If you take a laptop etc you can get free wifi in the reception and bar. We could just about get it in our room as well although the signal wasn't as strong.
We arrived early evening and were welcomed into the hotel, offered drinks and chilled towels as we checked in. The reception was spotless and first impressions were that it was a really nice hotel. Our room was a good size however there was a lot of noise during the night from the air conditioning system. Next morning we informed reception and guest services about the noise and they sorted us another room out which was just as nice. The only downside to the rooms were that they were not double beds but our cleaner was more than happy to put the beds together to make one huge bed so that was fine.
The staff were really professional, friendly and willing to do anything for you. The service at the bars was excellent and all the staff spoke as you passed them. In the dining areas staff were on top of everything, there was no waiting for tables to be cleared or more food to be put out. We also noticed that all staff helped out. If something needed doing they did it no matter what their job. None of this standing about letting others do it because it wasn't "their job". None of the staff hassle you for tips as we have experienced in other Sharm resorts which was also good. We did tip staff but it was because we wanted to and not because we felt we had to.
Food was really nice, the main dining area gave a good selection of buffet style food and with the premium all inclusive you could eat at any of the other resturants as well. The only one I was disappointed in was the Indian. The nam breads were hard and my sizzler tandoori tasted burnt. However other's said that they enjoyed the food so maybe I just choose the wrong thing. We were also seated by the door and so kept getting a cold draught everytime the door was opened. We ate in the Italian most nights, service here was again excellent and the chefs would cook your meal to your liking. We also attended the Gala dinner, this was good. The entertainment was a little loud to begin with as we were sat directly in front of the stage.
Pool area was clean and tidy as was the beach, went snorkelling off the jetty and saw loads of fish. We ate at the pool bar every day and although a little cool (being in the shade) the service and food was again excellent. On one of our days at the pool the Leisure manager came round to ask for our feedback. We mentioned that we had changed rooms and so had lost our fruit basket. By the time we got back to our room there was a new fruit basket and selection of cookies.
We used our massage vouchers and laundry vouchers. Very impressed with both, disappointed that we couldn't use the small pool above the spa as it was closed for maintainence. We just fell unlucky that we were there when they were doing it. Massage was really good and we would have gone back if it had been a bit cheaper.
On our last day we had a 6 hour delay, Reps arranged a later pick up time. Hotel was fantastic and allowed us an extra hour on our rooms, advised us that we could use the showers at the spa if we wanted and extended our all inclusive to when we left.
Overall a really, really good holiday. Excellent service, excellent hotel. Would definatley go back again !
The only thing that I was disappointed in was the flight with Thomas Cook, in particular going back. Cabin crew disorganised, saving duty free for themselves and only one drinks service in the entire flight. And then when we got back we found our luggage had been left in Sharm. Hopefully Thomas Cook are investigating this.
