“Forget Deli Belly, I got Egyptian Curse”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2012

Probably spent 1 or 2 day's out of 13, without the food totally disagreeing with me. Spent a lot of time in the loo and the Reception staff were about as good as shiny toilet paper when you have the runs; and desperately need soap in the communal toilets and not have the dispenser broken and never filled up as was the norm.
Yes the staff were good, especially the bar staff., but, that does still not make up for sloppiness, dirty rooms, dilapidated bathrooms where you would just about get a 6 year old in the bath. The floors were always dusty even though we tried to explain to the Housekeeping staff and constantly asked for the room to be thoroughly cleaned, the bath was covered in SCUM. Could not get to grips with putting paper that you used for the toilet, in a waste paper bin!! I was bitten to pieces and not the only traveller to do a trip to the Pharmacy.

The whole of the exterior of the Hotel, in most areas was disgusting, dusty and had not had a lick of paint for several years. The plaster on most external walls had blown, the restaurant upstairs had squashed flies (which were always trying to eat your food with you) on most of the walls, pillars and floor which looked like it could do with a good scrub. The outside balcony where we ate our food was over run with small birds, flies, dust everywhere and dirty tables that occasionally got a wipe with a wet cloth. Not sure if they have actually been seen using bleach in the bathroom or Detto@ in the bath which was covered in scum....YUK

If you go to this hotel, most of the time the All Inclusive residents were outdone on what you got for free. There was supposed to be free unlimited Ice Cream which never materialised. I asked the Chef about it and he said "Ask the Management"., you were given a glass of beer and not a bottle which cut the costs down for them., the spirits were suspect as to whether they had been watered down and the Scotch Whisky with the word HIGHLAND Whisky had a distinctly Cocoanut taste to it. The meals were passable and they did not understand the word Hot for food that was left in open containers for several hours which is why I could not eat a lot.
No women other than the Reception worked at the hotel, who if they smiled would be a surprise. We asked to be moved only to be told "we had the best of the worst rooms" which sums the place up. The Internet never seemed to work and there was not the promise of Entertainment every night, except New Years Eve where they frogmarched you to the dance floor., which under our law's is illegal for falsifying what services you actually received.

The only thing that made this trip to Egypt worth while was the sun. It was 23 in the shade and never let us down. The trip's are excellent but one word of warning MTS are CRA! and try to overcharge you by converting GBP into $US. Cairo was filthy, which we knew but a real word of WARNING - Do not leave any bag's in the Minibus or Coach for your own safety. We had a problem and left our bags in the bus but could have been in deep do do's. Trust no one that is not from your Hotel but do not let the Marketeers put you off shopping if you tell them No Thank you in Arabic which is 'La Shokran"

I would never recommend this place, nor HolidayGems who we booked through or Tsokkos group in Cyprus who own the place; and have an argument brewing about the misleading photographs and description of the hotel and not being told by them how bad this hotel really is. Oh we did find out about the building work at the adjoining property, which started at about 8 am after Christmas holiday time.

Keep away unless you just wish to be bitten alive and spend your whole time in the toilet

Room Tip: No tip, just steer clear from staying here as all the rooms are as bad as each other. If you do sta...

“Great Holiday at Cleopatra Tsokkos- David B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 November 2011

Just spent 2 weeks at this hotel from 8th October to 22 October and quite frankly do not understand the complete negativity of some people on this site, yes the hotel is a bit dated and can do with some upgrading but the friendliness and warmth of the staff certainly make up for this and go well out of their way to make your holiday special and lets face it a room is a room and if you want to go on holiday to spend most of it in a room then my advice is stay in good ol GB where it rains constantly!!!!
I was diagnosed with Crohns disease shortly before going on holiday so food and the quality was an issue as I didnt want to have an attack whilst on holiday but I needn't have worried as the food at this hotel was excellent, we went all inclusive and do have to admit the all inclusive menu is a bit repetative but the standard is superior to some of the big hotels as we overheard when out one evening a couple (not staying at the Cleopatra) complaining bitterly about the standard of food at their hotel. And with Il Merkato shopping centre 5 minutes from the hotel there is many restaurants to choose from if you fancy a change from the hotel meals and all quite cheap for a decent meal.
We were not planning a holiday for next year but on our second week at this hotel we decided that we must come back and Maria in reception gave us a card with the website address of the hotel so we can book direct and save more money by not having to go through travel agents and we can also pick what room we would like and they would arrange for the hotel taxi to pick us up from the airport.
So in my view, this is a lovely small hotel that offers great service, great food and a great deal for those on a budget.

“Great Holiday”

I'm surprised by all the negative comments about this hotel. Yes, compared to the big 'resort' hotels in Sharm, the Cleopatra cannot compete, but then they are not trying to. The Cleopatra is a smaller hotel where you have all the basics you need to enjoy Sharm El Sheikh, lets face it, how much time do you want to spend at your hotel? We found the hotel a frayed at the edges but it was kept clean, the food was good and the staff go out of there way to ensure you have all you need. If your looking for luxury then this hotel is not for you but if all you want is basic accomodation with decent food at an affordable price, then we'd recomend The Cleopatra.

I was in this hotel last November 2010 and we hat 10 good days at Sharm el Sheikh. The food was good, the people working there very kind and helpful, not everyone could speak english, but the most of them. The Pool was a little bit small. The entry was nod so clean, and it had a strange smell when you got in the hotel, like food or something.
The rooms were clean. I would say it was a good choice !!

“Expected budget - got far less”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 July 2011

Was extremely excited about going to Egypt for the first time but was let down really badly by the hotel. The place just looked so worn down. The staff not much better. Pained smiles and generally curt responses said everything about this hotel. I could see that at one point it was a nice place to go and there would have been plenty to be excited about but time has certainly taken its toll. The rooms were not clean although im sure the many housekeeping staff did as much as they could, its not so much cleanliness as it is maintenance, cracked tiles, paint coming off walls, wardrobe doors never closing right, curtains with small but noticeable holes. I really wanted to like this hotel because i actually had a good time in Sharm but it was the atmosphere of Old Sharm and a few of the other guests that had a 'grin and bear it' attitude like ourselves that made the holiday. oh and the guys in the bizarre at the front - great laugh!
