Probably spent 1 or 2 day's out of 13, without the food totally disagreeing with me. Spent a lot of time in the loo and the Reception staff were about as good as shiny toilet paper when you have the runs; and desperately need soap in the communal toilets and not have the dispenser broken and never filled up as was the norm.
Yes the staff were good, especially the bar staff., but, that does still not make up for sloppiness, dirty rooms, dilapidated bathrooms where you would just about get a 6 year old in the bath. The floors were always dusty even though we tried to explain to the Housekeeping staff and constantly asked for the room to be thoroughly cleaned, the bath was covered in SCUM. Could not get to grips with putting paper that you used for the toilet, in a waste paper bin!! I was bitten to pieces and not the only traveller to do a trip to the Pharmacy.
The whole of the exterior of the Hotel, in most areas was disgusting, dusty and had not had a lick of paint for several years. The plaster on most external walls had blown, the restaurant upstairs had squashed flies (which were always trying to eat your food with you) on most of the walls, pillars and floor which looked like it could do with a good scrub. The outside balcony where we ate our food was over run with small birds, flies, dust everywhere and dirty tables that occasionally got a wipe with a wet cloth. Not sure if they have actually been seen using bleach in the bathroom or Detto@ in the bath which was covered in scum....YUK
If you go to this hotel, most of the time the All Inclusive residents were outdone on what you got for free. There was supposed to be free unlimited Ice Cream which never materialised. I asked the Chef about it and he said "Ask the Management"., you were given a glass of beer and not a bottle which cut the costs down for them., the spirits were suspect as to whether they had been watered down and the Scotch Whisky with the word HIGHLAND Whisky had a distinctly Cocoanut taste to it. The meals were passable and they did not understand the word Hot for food that was left in open containers for several hours which is why I could not eat a lot.
No women other than the Reception worked at the hotel, who if they smiled would be a surprise. We asked to be moved only to be told "we had the best of the worst rooms" which sums the place up. The Internet never seemed to work and there was not the promise of Entertainment every night, except New Years Eve where they frogmarched you to the dance floor., which under our law's is illegal for falsifying what services you actually received.
The only thing that made this trip to Egypt worth while was the sun. It was 23 in the shade and never let us down. The trip's are excellent but one word of warning MTS are CRA! and try to overcharge you by converting GBP into $US. Cairo was filthy, which we knew but a real word of WARNING - Do not leave any bag's in the Minibus or Coach for your own safety. We had a problem and left our bags in the bus but could have been in deep do do's. Trust no one that is not from your Hotel but do not let the Marketeers put you off shopping if you tell them No Thank you in Arabic which is 'La Shokran"
I would never recommend this place, nor HolidayGems who we booked through or Tsokkos group in Cyprus who own the place; and have an argument brewing about the misleading photographs and description of the hotel and not being told by them how bad this hotel really is. Oh we did find out about the building work at the adjoining property, which started at about 8 am after Christmas holiday time.
Keep away unless you just wish to be bitten alive and spend your whole time in the toilet
