“More than exceeded our expectations.”

On arrival at this hotel, we were given drinks. We booked through Thomson for this holiday and have been in Platinum hotels before so knew what we shoudl have been expecting. The cases were left outside and we were met by the rep in the hotel who helped us check in whilst we sat down and enjoyed the drink. We found that the security loop went off every time someone went through it and found it a bit odd but as least there was plenty of security there anyway.

We were given our room number and took our bags following one of the hotel colleagues to the room who pointed it out to us. Our room was absolutely superb. We booked a suite and this was looking towards the beach and was very close to the beach bar. It had 4 sections and a bathroom. There was a section with the bed in which was a good size in itself, a hall way, a room with table and chairs and a small settee, and another room with two fitted settees which coudl double up to beds if you needed them. It was very clean and the bed although firm was how I prefer. some may find it a little too firm but I do have a preference for these beds. The wood was a little dark but the rest of the room was decorated with light colours to it did not look too bad. There was a mini fridge which was stocked daily with fruit juice, Mirinda (like Fanta), pepsi and water. It is advisable not to use the local water but this is no probelm as there are many places you can get as much bottled water as you need throughout the hotel. There is a nice enclosed balcony with relaxer chairs and vegetation around it but this did not stop the sun from getting to it in the morning. The bath had high sides so may not be totally suitable for those with limited mibility and the shower was sufficient, not as good as I am used to and with long hair it did take a little while to clean and wash the soap out but this woudl be no bother to people with shorter styles. There is some soap in the shower and toilteries are complimentary too. There are tea and cofffee making facilities and what we found a nice touch is they do some herbal and fruti teas too.

Weather is something to be aware of, it is around early 20s in January which is plesant for us cold Brits. However, there is the possibility of some colder days when the wind gets up. I woudl advise a cardigan in the evenings and perhaps a light fleece for the slightly cooler days. There were a couple of times we needed to put the heater on in our room but it worked fine and was sufficient to take the chill off at the end of the day. A tip on cooler days is to go to the beach as there are wind breakers there and this cuts quite a bit of the cold off. The beach is clean and nice with a bar and great barmen. The seats and tabels get cleaned every night which is reassuring. There is a pier which goes out into the sea. Some do snorkling and diving off it but it is still just nice to have a walk along, see the corals and fish and look back at the coastline. To enter the sea at the shoreline, it is advisable to wear shoes as the rocks are quite hard and painful to walk on.

If you choose to stay by the pool, you have a choice of the relax pool and the activity pool. Be aware that the activity pool is the only one heated. The pools have their own bars. Music is played around the activity pool and the relax pool is quiet. The pools overall look clean and tidy and there are plenty of relaxers around them.

Food is served 4 times a day in the Magico restaurant and it is themed every night diffferently. The entrance to the restaurant is decorated as are the tables in colours to suit the theme. They have someone playing music outside to suit the theme and the food is truley plentiful although if there is a theme you are not so keen on, theer are alternatives. I am fussy but I never went hungry. The food is really nice and to fit everything on your plate is a real challenge even if you only try a little of everything. There are many types of rolls, soup, cheeses, meats, fish, salads, in fact there was most things available. There were 5 hot stations wheer everythig was freshly prepared in front of you and everything was hot. I found a lot less pushing and shoving than I have had at other all inclusive hotels and a lot less bumping into people too. The area is spaced out nicely so this allows for people to move around. Pasta was also themed and often you got pasta with a sauce suited to the theme. Turkish style Pide was avaliable as the pizza option. Fruit, pastry, egyptian, mousses and cakes comprised of the desert counters. overall loads of choice and a large enough inside part to fit everyonein comportabley with a childerns section too. If you have a birthday and one of your party makes the reception aware of it, they give you a small card and you get a cake brought to your table with waiters singing traditional local songs.

If oyu fancy somthing different, there is a Medditeranian restaurant that serves mainly fish. This does feel a little cold in winter and allows smoking which some people seemed to take advantage of and smoked in between every course. We did not do the Mai Thai due to personal tastes and theer is an Egyptian restaurant which serves huge breads and egyptan foods. This is also a little cold in winter. These al la carte restaurants can be booked via touch screen in the reception area. The magico restaurant is non smoking and the atmosphere is very plesant there. Wine was quiet nice for an area not noted for it and the beer was good although a little gassy so I have been told. When going in for evening meal, a waiter will greet you at the door with cocktails. The cocktails are in normal sized glasses as are all the drinks in the hotel and are generally of good quality. You will find a good bar for international drinks called the Eagles bar which is also smoke free and very comfortable with great attentative colelagues and all drinks are served with nibbles.

Breakfast is also a great time and there are a very large amount of options. Sausage with cheese is very nice as are the chocolate covered doughnuts. There is a selection of meats and cheeses (more cheese is a bit salty (yes, it is really caled more cheese)). You can get fruits, cereals, soup, rolls, bread, toast, omelets frshly made, croissants, cakes and many more items. Orange juice ws wonderfully tangy. it is ful of pulp and tasted quiet fresh. I would have rather had it without pulp to be honest but many people love it this way.

If you miss breakfast, there is food in a variety of areas. After a long day excursion, we overslept and enjoyed a lunch in the Mai Thai which does snack food every day for lunch. There you will find a selection of pizza, pasta, chips, soup, cheese, meats, cooked meats, fish, salad and deserts.

The grounds are awatered overnight giving the area a very lush feel and very green gardens. Absolutely splendid and they afre tended to every day by an army of gardeners.

Having caught the cleaner one days when returning to our room early, we found how much time they spend cleaning the rooms. He was very meticulous and even cleanad the windows. Towel art was a plenty and flowers were regularly decorating the room as well.

For those who like entertainment, there is an amphitheatre with shows on most evenings, karaoke in front of the restaurant, quieter bars and a night club but this is a smoky place.

There is an area specially made for aerobics and yoga and this goes on most of the day. A kids club is run really well and theer is always activities for children. There is boules on the beach and many other activities around the hotel, you will not get bored.

One word of warning, the clothes shops on the site do sell fakes. The shoe sizes are incorrect and the person running them does not understand that a bigger size is needed etc. I ended up with trainers to walk round Luxor for the day that pinched my toes so much I now have bruises under my nails. I would never normally buy fakes but forgot my trainers so needed something comfortable to walk in but you can really see that they are fakes. Beware Free Wifi is available near reception and an internet cafe is availabe too.

There is a cafe that serves coffee and cake and as they use Monin flavours, they are very similar to what you get at home in coffee shops with just a good quality.

Overall, a great hotel, there is a lovely mixture of nationalities there all enjoying the holiday and it is refershing to meet a lot of them all having as much fun as yourself.

We enjoyed it so much, we have already booked for next January.

Room Tip: Try to get one away form the activity pool. It gets a bit noisy if you want a lie in.

“Great food and facilities”

Just got back from Sharm. This was our 2nd visit and found this the better hotel. This was mainly due to the food which was excellent. The choice at breakfast, lunch and dinner was superb. Good quality throughout. There is one main restaurant and 3 others that you need to book for dinner (Egyptian, Thai and Fish). We tried the Fish and Thai and both were good - you got free wine with your meal.

The rooms are spacious and are cleaned to a high standard. The minor negative comments about the rooms mentioned by other reviewers are there but only fussy people would let them affect their holiday.

The beach is v well stocked with good sunbeds and wind breaks. It has a good beach bar and kept clean. The main pool is also good though we didn't use it. The weather wasn't great when we went and it was also mainly geared up for families. There is another smaller pool (relax Pool) which is very good and has its own bar.

The staff were friendly and helpful throughout as at the other hotel we went to (Hilton Sharks Bay).

As the weather wasn't great we walked a lot along the coast and called into a few hotels for a look. The set-up at magic Life seem to the at the top end of the mid-price hotels.

The bar offers a wide variety of drinks. The locals can't brew a decent pint of lager so no surprise there. The spirits and wine were very weak are not particularly good quality. One good thing I never woke up with a hangover!! The cocktails and coffees were better though and offered a huge variety.

On the whole you will not be disappointed by going to Club Magic Life

Room Tip: All rooms seemed fine and away from nighttime noise. Top floor was quiet.

“Very nice and well managed hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

I just came back from a break at Club Magic life in Sharm. I was very impressed overall and would definitely recommend it. I have stayed in Sharm before at an Egyptian rated 5* so my expectations had been set low in the past. Despite this we wanted some winter sun and not a long flight so we trusted to the reviews of this hotel.

On arrival I was impressed, the greeting, lobby and arrival process was very organised. Our accommodation was nice, quality furnishings and fabrics, the room is a good size, nice bathroom with a decent shower and a really large and comfy bed. The restaurant is excellent, spotlessly clean and again very well managed. We were bowled over by the effort that goes into setting the theme for the restaurant every night, the presentation of the food and food sculptures is amazing. The food quality is excellent the variety available is also excellent. We could not fault the main restaurant or the theme restaurants. We ate at all the theme restaurants, they were really lovely. There is a set menu so the food courses arrive if you want them or not! I did find I couldnt eat all the food. The Service in all the restaurants and bars is superb.

The staff at the hotel are very efficient, very helpful and really nice. They all work so very hard. We were pleased that tipping is encouraged in tipping boxes that can be shared by the whole team, thats only fair since the amount of effort that goes into the preparation and presentation of the food and drinks is a team effort. As advised on trip advisor we took a load of £1 coins and tipped after every meal, trip to bar etc. It doesnt cost much over a week and the money makes such a huge difference to the staff. Its nice that you dont feel you have to tip, you do it because you want to. If you ever need any coins then you will find the staff all need to change them into notes so its easy to make the trade.

Because I have experienced Sharm before I wasnt expecting much in the way of coffee or alcohol. Thankfully this hotel has a lovely coffee bar in the tower and most of the bars serve fresh brewed coffee. The alcoholic drinks are non branded and what UK residents would consider home brew standard. The hotel does a very good job of mixing it up into tasty cocktails that help you forget the quality of the alcohol. The beer and the wine were acceptable.

The pools and saunas are all very nice. We used the sauna and steam room a lot.

Whilst staying at the hotel I became seriously ill at 4 am. I should clarify that the illness was not related to the hotel in any way. We called reception who sent the doctor who was there in only 10 mins and was a really good doctor. He had everything he needed to help me on site and give me medication which he had ready in his clinic. We settled the bill right away and felt the bill was most fair.

This time after advice on this website we didnt take any Egyptian, Sterling, Euros etc are all accepted everywhere.

My top tip would be when landing at the airport if you arent planning to leave sharm then dont bother queuing for the visa, go straight for the passport control and you will find there are landing cards to complete on the table tops.

This hotel could be improved as follows:
1. In room entertainment facilities should be improved by adding a film rental service
2. There should be a kettle in the room and the fridge should be stocked with water and drinks.
3. The hotel should utilise the indoor spaces more in winter, its mainly geared up for you to sit outdoors at night, it was chilly and so all the indoor bars filled up so we were forced to go back to our room :-( The reception lobby area should be setup as another bar for winter evenings.
4. An option of proper ground coffee should be offered in the main restaurant instead of poor instant. coffee. A decent cup of coffee at breakfast is a basic right surely :-)
5. Better presentation of the cocktails, salt/sugar around the rim of the glass would help specially with a margarita. Perhaps get the waiters to watch the film cocktail and prepare the drinks with more of a flourish.
4. The steam room needs to be freshened up, it needs maintenance and didnt smell clean and it would help if you added essential oil to the steam to enhance the experience.

Sharm El Sheik itself desperately needs some quality entertainment. A decent water park would be a good start. And Neama Bay has only got worse, wall to wall rubbish for sale in the shops and all the shops sell the same stuff. This place needs to be cleaned up and a better variety of merchants encouraged to set up shop. We were looking for some nice quality crafts, clothing, art, handmade cosmetics. We walked around the place with plenty of money in our pockets there was simply nothing at all worth buying.

Room Tip: We had a nice room by the quiet pool which is nice for couples.

“Winter Sun”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

If you want to get some winter sun and you’re not looking for gourmet food and luxurious surrounding’s then Sharm Magic Life will do you fine. Compared to 4 other 5* hotels we have stayed in in Egypt, it is the best so far. The grounds are large and very well-kept with good pools, one heated. Why people complain about cold water in the others, in winter, is a mystery to me! If you want warmer water, go in summer. The rooms are clean, sparsely furnished, but adequate. The beds comfortable, our junior suite had a walk in shower with plenty of hot water, all have fair sized balconies, though most ground floor are in shade. And yes, they are noisy in the morning, but accommodation blocks with tiled floors, staff with room servicing trollies and other guests banging doors always are. Beach is clean with loads of sun beds and wind breaks, though as you are on a reef a pier is supplied to get over to the open sea. The food is well cooked, and unusually nowadays, well-seasoned & even more unusually, mostly piping hot. I loved the Indian selection and was constantly finding whole black cardamom pods in some of the dishes, a sign to me that the dish has been prepared with skill & care. Sure, you will not see a fillet steak or lobster thermidor but you will get lovely fresh bread, good soups, imaginative salads, turkey & duck, chicken, veal, braised steaks & beef liver, vegetable, pasta and pulse dishes, a selection of deserts and cheeses, and hardworking staff. (The chefs can be a little grumpy, but we all are) Magic Life is owned by the TUI Thomson group whose biggest market is Germany, followed by France, then UK, and of course try to fill their hotels. The Brits do not have a monopoly here& there is no problem with other nationality guests. Hassle. If you show a poor Egyptian vendor that you are interested in his ware`s, be it taking a photo of his camel or looking at a fridge magnet or piece of leather work. His only objective in life now is how to persuade you to pay the best price he can get. Settle on a fair price first or just say no and walk away. The previous also applies to the wellness centre salesman (Sama) who prowls the sunbeds, don’t believe him, go direct. Finally if you need a reminder. Walk out of your all inclusive hotel up to the street and look around their world, then think how lucky you are and enjoy your holiday.
PS. Special thanks to Thomson Airways for giving us a new 737 plane with more legroom.

Room Tip: Higher floors more chance of sunny balcony

“Club Magic Life-Sharm: Magical Is The Work”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012
1
person found this review helpful

First, the bad news: 4 nights stay is definitely not enough!
Now let’s accentuate the positive, and there’s lots of it:
URL: http://www.magiclife.com/en/club-details/clubs/egypt/club_magic_life_sharm_el_sheikh_imperial.html
Location: excquisite; south of the Sinai Peninsula
Package deal: All Inclusive (and I do mean ALL INCLUSIVE, 24 hours a day snacks & drinks, and the staff literally hover over you and yours, waiting for your slightest gesture)
Rooms: ours was for 3 adults + 1 kid: there were 2 large beds and 2 corner beds in one room divided by a pull-away curtain. Comfortable bath, LCD, mini-fridge, lots of closet and drawers space & a spacious balcony.
The units are divided into blocks, and their colors are easy on the eyes, together with the abundant greenery.
The main pool is very wide, easy to access from all sides for all units, and heated, with a central snack & drinks bar. It being a heated pool helped a great deal in the 3 windy days without sun; that and the incredible Team Magic Life people who gave great workouts, put out fab tunes and generally roused everyone out of their pool chairs. Lots & lots of pool chairs decked out to strategically face the sun when it deigned to shine.
The beach is white, clean sand, lots of semi-private beach seatings. Every kind of sports activity is available, and some not so common like archery. 2 long, long, LONG diving piers. Beautiful views of the mountains, and a nice promenade that extends along the beach to the right & left, I’m guessing along other resorts as well, with speed bumps! Joggers rejoice.
The main restaurant has an incredible number of seats both inside & outside. I highly recommend sitting under the sun or stars if the weather permits. The pony-tailed chef as I like to call him, keeps a stern eye on all stands, and he should be proud. Breakfast & lunch are always superb, with every taste catered for. And the dinners are themed every night, with a cute display across the main entrance hinting at the theme of the night. Too many flavors, cuisines & tastes to count, but even the diet-crowd get their own stand! And did I mention the late dinner, which comes, believe it or not, after the official dinner. This restaurant has an all night snack bar as well.
There are 3 other themed restaurants located around the compound. We only had time to sample the Mai Thai one, and it was good. The other 2 offered oriental (local) cuisine and Marine-flavored eats. The Mai Thai offers lunch & dinner, the other 2 dinner only, and you have to book for dinner for any of the three at the guest relations office starting at 2 pm. Couple of hints though: there will be a line, so be there as early as half an hour before, and be prepared to enter your dinner reservations info (including your room number) via a touch screen thingy (don’t panic, the nice lady with the laptop is there to help you along if you stumble)
What else? Oh, yeah. The Team Magic Life offers daily activities by day, Kids disco by 8 pm after dinner in the American Bar, and Nightly Variety shows in the amphitheater, that or a movie, your pick. And they have some incredible dancers, choreography, and they do put on quite a show.
I know I have definitely missed many other good aspects, so just be prepared to be pleasantly surprised at every turn, because I’m out of breath and I’m getting Sharm-sick already for that place.
