“Mixed feelings”

It was and still is my first visit to Egypt so I have no other hotels to compare Amar Sina with. I was there with my girlfriend and despite the fact we both agree it was a fantastic vacation I’m afraid Amar Sina did not contribute much to that impression.

Anyway, pros: can not agree with other guys commented on the hotel food - the food was quite decent and various at dinners (breakfast kinda sucked); the bed is pretty big; good room service (especially if you leave 20 Egyptian pounds on a bed once)))); the hotel is located not so far from the market with very cheap and very delicious fruits & sea food and from the beach to go snorkeling and watch hundreds of various kinds of fish and corals.

Cons: cold (no warming up – it was in December 2010) swimming pool; they apply some really stinky anti-mosquito smoke on the premises every day so you have to be careful and close windows in your room in advance to prevent your room from stinking; it happened a couple of times when I had a feeling a guy from hotel service was high or drunk; very poor entertainment programme; roof REALLY leaks when it rains; when we’d ordered a strawberry fresh at the hotel bar we asked a bartender a few times not to put any water in the fresh – he mixed strawberries with water about 50:50 anyway and then swore that there was not a single drop of water in the glass. What the f***?

Resume: Don’t make me wrong, I’m not trying to condemn the hotel or show it from the bad side as our experience in Sharm was quite good actually. Though I don’t think I would return to this hotel one day.

We've just come back after a 7 night stay at amar sina. I read the reviews after booking and was in two minds before going, however, upon arrival I was pleasantly surprised it was not as described by some wingers on here!!

The place was clean and well maintained. For a 3 star hotel you really can't ask for anything more. The staff are all sooo amazing and helpful. They make your stay more enjoyable always smiling and interacting with guests.

And they do amazing towel decorating thanks to Ahmed who is truly tremendous always happy and ready to help anyway he can. A true gentleman and genuine guy.

We were all inclusive so had breakfast lunch and dinner at hotel most nights. We eat properly and none of us got upset stomachs!! The food was good and they had a variety of dishes including BBQ. The only downside was u had to go to bar outside to get ur drinks at lunch and dinner!!
Again the restaurant staff were all very helpful and smiley especially young mahmood.

The pool area was clean and tidy during our stay and the bar staff were also happy and helpful.

I would defienatley recommend this hotel as it close to the airport aswell as naama bay and old market. The hotel also do a free shuttle bus to the beach which is great for snorkling. And they don't mind if you have food delivered to the hotel McDonald's KFC etc

They have a supermarket, barbers, perfume shops, launderette, snorkling gear on sale and a Internet cafe which is open till late onsite. The internet guy is very helpful and stayed open till later if required!!

The reception is 24 hours and the staff is great we will most defienatley be returning here!!!

“Good value for extremly cheap rate.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

As for the price that we paid for 2 weeks holidays it was OK. We wre lucky (cost $2) that we were not given room with windows on the mini zoo/ Terrible smell. Room big, bed confortable. Food ok - one thing was not ok - chief tried to create food in european way. I understand that it was made for guests with children. We have expected something more truly egiptian. Pool with a lot of chlorium. Drinks ok - I liked locall gin.

Room Tip: Ask if given room is with windows on the mini -zoo. Awfull smell there.

“DON'T LISTEN TO THE BAD REVIEWS!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

I have just come back from travelling to Egypt alone. I am a young lady and never travelled alone or never been to Egypt. Obviously I needed to keep cost down so I opted for Amar Sina as the prices was right for me.

When I read the reviews I had it drilled into my head that this place was a complete and utter dive!!! I was expecting some awful, rundown hell hole from reading the reviews. Well I will say I was pleasantly suprised upon arriving! The hotel from outside looks small but lovely. You are met with a very friendly warm welcome by Shams (reception) who escorted me to my room with my luggage. Being a young lady travelling alone maybe they gave me extra special care but as far as I could see during my stay they are brilliant with everybody.

I was all inclusive and didn't eat in the restaurant very often. I am not a big eater. They do amazing omelettes at breakfast. Other than breakfast I didn't really eat in there much, most guests were moaning it was cold (as other reviews say) however some nights they said it was lovely and hot! Hit and miss perhaps as to what time you go in there. The hotel didn't mind if you had a Macdonalds delivered either!! Which a few others did. I ate down town in T2 alot, this was lovely and very cheap.

The pool is cold, but every place I have ever been abroad the pools are very cold, you hardly wanna jump into a warm pool when you are sat in the sun all day! The pool area was kept well a maintained with a guy constantly cleaning everywhere around the hotel. My rooms was lovely, yes dark however you can open the windows and sun comes through to lighten it up!! Not rocket science!!!

All in all an amazing experience. All staff very respectful and always smiling. I got extremely drunk on my first day (which Egyptian men are not used to seeing) the security staff handled me amazingly (i was told by other guests, as I couldn't remember anything!!) I was creating some problems and they dealt with a very drunken Welsh girl absolutely tremendously!! BLESS THEM!! Of course I apologised to everyone then next day and they were so nice. They kept saying "you are here to relax and enjoy your holiday, please don't drink like that again we worry about you, you are a nice girl in Egypt alone you need to be careful" as you can imagine from there I behaved and I don't think they will ever forget me!!!!!

My main shout out goes to the infamous DJ Mo!!! This guy was the life and soul of the hotel. He wanders around talking with the guests, brilliant English and a big sparkle in his eyes!!! Plays any music you want and will look after your every need. LOVE YOU MO!!!!!

I will be back!!! xxx

“there are much better hotels than this one”

We arrived late after the flight was delayed and had to make a fuss to get something to eat as we were on an all inclusive basis. They wanted to charge us from the a la carte menu.

The rooms are generous but getting tatty - broken tiling and mirrors in the bathroom, hole in the window frames, shabby furniture. I am sure that several years ago it was truely spendid but is now in a serious need of an update.

Food was reptitive, bland and boring and you could not simply help yourself even though it was buffet style - chefs carefully served the meat and fish dishes because they admitted there wouldn't be enough to go round.

The pool area was extremely noisy with a DJ introducing loud dance music - great for youn ger people but not for older ones. The DJ got very upset when asked to provide music to suit all styles and to turn the volume down. The music tended to reverberate around the rooms until later into the night.

The pool was not cleaned on a daily basis and an underwater light fell off leaving exposed wires and lots of algae on show - not repaired during the two weeks we suffered there.

There was an inspection by the tourist board one day - the only time staff paid any attention to hygiene

Most of the staff were obliging and tried to be helpful but were restricted by the lack of support from management
