Have just returned from an AI trip to Dreams Beach, via Thomas Cook. Seven days of absolute relaxation with good food choices, excellent staff and great choice of amenities. Our room was very clean and certainly big enough for 3 of us. The bathroom was well appointed and again clean. Everything worked! Our two room staff were excellent and did everything they could to make our holiday fuss-free. Replenishment of bottled water and/or Sprite/Cola was a daily feature.
The pools were rather cold but there was a heated option if really pushed. The pool staff and the pool bar staff were really good - friendly, helpful and courteous. There were plenty of sunbeds, plenty of shaded areas (it was hot at 37C) and towels renewed when you wanted. (If you don't want to be bothered by salesmen from the various outlets, ask for a "No hassle" tag to hang up above your sunbed). If you wanted to, there were activities to join in such as aqua-aerobics, water polo and volleyball.
The food in the main restaurant was buffet style with plenty to choose from - not always the same and always enough variety to prevent boredom. We stuck mainly to soft drinks in the day but the local beer was OK and the wine was excellent. On two nights we ate at one of the a la carte restaurants - Pergola for Italian and Grill House for steak, etc. No extra charge for these and you could go as often as they were open if you wished. All the restaurant staff were, again, friendly and helpful and efficient. Some guests were annoyingly rude and pushed in to queues and couldn't be bothered to say "please" or "thank you" to the staff, but in the main it was very civilised. Coffee was also v.good everywhere in the resort.
Reception and checking out were both very smoothly done and quick. Very nice staff there too.
We went over to the Vacations side on the taf-taf. It was quieter than the Resort side but basically the same was on offer, although the pools looked more inviting.
Lovely gardens surrounded all the room blocks. Well tended and even a very brave (unmasked) man spraying the hedges and flowerbeds with anti-mosquito every afternoon. We didn't see a single mosquito or cockroach or nasty anywhere near our room. Some biggish ants in the grounds but not a problem.
Directly outside our block of rooms was an evening entertainment venue which started at 9.00 pm and finished at 11 pm. It was very noisy and with rather childish content but it did always end on time.
The walk down to the beach area is quite steep (especially coming back up!) although there is a lift to take you part way down. Because of this we didn't use the beach (not very mobile). It looked good. The sea was wonderfully clear but, unfortunately for us, it was the jellyfish season so we didn't actually go in.
One minor complaint (not the resort's fault) was that the bus trip to/from the airport took a long time because we called at several other hotels en route.
We would certainly recommend the resort, if you want a hassle free holiday. Because it was AI, we saved quite a lot of expense and were able to reward the excellent service with tips before we left.
Thanks to Thomas Cook for excellent organisation and to the resort staff for making it so enjoyable.
