We have recently returned from an 11 night stay at the Concorde front.
This was our third trip to Sharm in 14 months and our second time at the Concorde, where we had a fabulous time in September 2010.
The refurbished reception area looks great, as does the refurbed room we were allocated which overlooked the aquagym pool.
After unpacking our cases, we went for our evening meal at the main resturaunt, what a disappointment, the range and quality of the food available had serverely declined since our last stay,as had the quality of the waiter service. After locating a table for ourselves, we noticed that most of the waiters were gathered in groups talking amongst themselves, rather then tending to the guests, we eventually had to approach a waiter who begrudgingly took our order and returned with our drinks. Once our drinks were finished, he took our glasses away without asking if we wanted more.
We then went back to our room to find ants everywhere, even amongst our clothes. The housekeeping department sent someone round to investigate, their first intention was to spray the room with us and our belongings still in it, not good!. We then requested to be allocated a different room, and as it was late at night, that we be allowed to move our belongings the next morning, this was granted and we were given a room overlooking the infinity pool.
The next morning was probably the highlight of our stay, we were welcomed back like old friends by Gomaa and Ahmed at the pool bar as well as Ahmed the lifeguard. We spent most of our days beside the infinity pool and were treat well by the pool bar staff including the new barman Al Saeed, these people are the stars of the Concorde. Unfortunately the actual pool was too cold to spend much time in, so we just had the occasional dip.
We did venture down to the beach on one occasion, but having previously stayed at Ras Nasrani bay, we found the beach & the snorkelling at the Concorde a little disappointing.
Over the course of the holiday the service in the restaurant did improve, the food unfortunately did not, special mention here for Ahmed Khali, the head chef.
After a few days, ayoung russian couple were allocated a room next to ours, they played a lot of loud music, which became very annoying, especially at 3 in the morning.
Overall we enjoyed our holiday, but will not be returning to the Concorde.
We have booked to return to Sharm in September 2012, to the Royal Grand Azure.
