Don't believe what you read about thishotel. We have just returned from a week at this hotel and will definately be going back on October. Staff were so nice, Hotel was spotless and food was fine. I am fussy and there was always something to eat and more. The omelettes in the morning were fresh cooked, there was always fresh cooking going on even the pool guys were attantive. It may not be 5 star to other peoples standards but it was excellent.

Room Tip: Pay for the upgrade bigger rooms and nice terrace although the other rooms were lovely too

“nice break”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

Stayed for a week from 2nd Feb.Only booked 2 days before as weather not looking great in Spain for last min hol. Block 2 near to beach, nice room ,clean.Lots of reviews say about noisy rooms perhaps we were lucky as our block was quiet even with young families nearby.Got held back by a buggy man who KINDLY singled us out with a ride to our room only to stand there waiting for a tip . We hadn,t been able to get any Egyptian money apart from bit a mate had given us and when i gave him a note he said it was only a £ 1 worth and hung about so gave him all i had (about £3.50). within a minute our bags arrived with 2 men waiting for tips. (our bags could have fitted on buggy!) They were disappointed lol! Found something to eat every day even tho i,m quite fussy and with a 16 yr old who lives on sunday dinner ,pizza and burgers was still no problem. Local wine and beer were fine i,m a caterer and partner runs a pub and found both no problem, can,t understand why people moan, can,t expect same as at home seeing as your,e NOT at home! Obviously is quieter this time of year so service is going to be better than peak times. Have to mention Mandoo the waiter as promised even tho he liked to have a pout if you sat at a table that wasn,t his lol.Sayed the transfer rep and also our camel ride guide was good fun. (if you go on this trip make sure to take money to tip kids who guide the camels) Entertainment was same man singing every night and tho he had a good voice he was not very enthusiastic, and same thing EVERY night gets monotonous! Bought a £10 snorkle in Narma Bay and was best thing we did spent ages hanging off small jetty looking at lovely reef and fish below. The sea was warm thankfully as pools were freezing!Tried every restaurant exept Lebanese but only because didn,t know it was different food from daytime. Beach bar lounge was good and tapas bar exept for the things they laughingly called "pool cues".Only got bitten 2 days before leaving and think it was on desert trip anyway not round hotel.Bus service into Narma Bay was good but bit scary in daytime when stallholders will not leave you alone, found it better at night when lot more tourists there. Was a nice relaxing break but not much for older teenagers to do on resrt, and eveng entertainment could have been lot better.Met some nice people there from our area who had good evenings with.Would go there again, first AI hol for us and we thought well worth money paid.

“A good holiday? = ecoli and gastric”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

We arrived at the Sharm Plaza on the 28th January 2012, we flew with monarch, infact it was one of the best landings (both ways) we ever had, the airport is a nightmare, lots of walking to the coaches and visa filling and for 6 takes time. With a knee replacement isnt really good as its a shambles. also there is alot of stairs in this hotel with the lifts being quite away from the rooms.

Approaching the Plaza was nice as it looks a beautiful hotel, the staff take your bags to your room and stand waiting for tips.....get used to it as everybody expects tips and if you dont they seem to get a bit touchy, thats everywhere in the hotel. The rooms were really nice and clean and we always had fresh towels and beach towels. The rooms are also very noisy, you can hear everything and its very hard to sleep night and morning.
The weather was really windy and not that hot but it was jan/feb. The room cleaner was very nice and did alot of animals for the kids....well until he tried to kiss me on the lips as i was giving him the last of my money on my way home and not realising my sons manchester utd top had been stolen...... but thats another story....
We never seen a bug or insect whilst we were there, the grounds were clean and well maintained considering this is a massive place, i did have a tiny mouse in my room which woke me up lying on my back as i slept, but it was gorgeous and so cute, it died so we burried it.
...the plaza shares its grounds with the sharm resort hotel its all in one the only difference is its a walk away from reception so if you did book the sharm resort its alot cheaper and exactly the same grounds, pools, beach, restaurant etc as the plaza...infact its just one big massive hotel, we paid for the resort but got given a room in the plaza which was good but i would have been fuming paying all that extra money for the same hotel which i could of got cheaper, your only paying for a bigger balcony and being closer to the beach etc but yet you have the slide pools and heated pool in the resort part. the pools were absolutely ice cold, im glad i brought the kids wet suits, it was unbearable to swim in them, it was a shame as the kids couldnt really play on the slides as it was ice cold and thats not exaggerating, we went on the slides but landing in the water took our breath away. The heated one was alot better as thats the only one really anybody could really swim in but even the sea was warmer than the pools.
DRINKS: Be careful what you order as you could ask for a drink and get easily charged, the drinks selection was very very poor and unless you like vodka, gin or beer its exspensive for a decent drink, you can get easily charged for most things.
FOOD; It mostly caters for russians and as much as i thought the food was ok and properly cooked they had things like birds tongue soup etc....so we were hungry at a night and ended up paying money at the shops for snacks, so try the beach bar as they have nicer food like sandwiches etc but becareful as some items you have to buy....The restaurants are so so but a change i guess, something else you have to think about is people smoking whilst you were eating, even though they say its non smoking as we always sat outside other nationalities smoked as you were eating and was a massive put off to us.
so on the last day me and my father in law felt poorly i had felt unwell wed/thurs but didnt think anything of it, my father in law was a lot worse than me and complained that the bottled water tasted funny at the heated pool...he had bad sickness and bowel movements where as i felt sick and had tummy cramps.....all our flight home on the saturday he was terribly poorly as i just felt sick, by the monday he had gone so bad and weak we were thinking the worst, early hours tueday morning he was in an ambulance weak, still with bad sickness and bowel movements with no radial pulse hooked up to a defib....he still is in hospital now in the renal unit as the gastric/ecoli (find out the exact bacteria soon) has damaged his kidneys.....im still suffering but not enough to be hospitalised. we dont know whether it was the food or the drinks but the only thing we shared was a gin fizz (gin and soda water), but we know its food or drink related.

The holiday there was ok but most food posioning paitients are from egypt. This hotel is nice and clean, next to the rocky beach and is very very big....it has a big hill to climb coming back from the beach and the snorkelling was good but it nearly killed my father in law, the scary thing was i had two 7 year old with me.

overall it was good holiday, its a lovely hotel but nothings perfect...but please be careful what you eat, drink, do and where you go.

“Just adequate”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

I have travelled extensively throughout Egypt, the Nile & Red Sea. The hotel grounds were very well maintained and the overall ambience of the hotel was good. My room was one of the furthest away from the beach, and I had very noisy neighbours - not much the hotel could have done about that. There were no courtesy toiletries in the room, which I have come to expect in other hotels, maybe as this was 4* and not 5* I was expecting too much. There was only 1 pool heated (a small pool away from the main hotel) - in January the other pools were too cold to even dip your foot into. If Egypt and these hotels are advertising themselves as all year destinations they need to supply pools that people can actually go into all year round.
The food - Breakfast great, lunch at the 2 beach restaurants great - lunch and evening meals in the main restaurant poor. The meat was never cooked well - either too tough or poor quality and fatty. Vegetables never hot. Everything was too cafeteria like - I have stayed in all inclusive before that cater for more numbers and they have managed perfectly well - lessons to be learnt.
All courteous and efficient, but cold. Most dealings were very business like, when on holiday I need to see smiles not frowns. The young lad who cleaned my room (9156) was the only real friendly face - everybody else was miserably efficient.
Reef ok - access not too bad. 1 shore dive - expensive - 45 mins in total in the water - £50.
Room - comfortable beds, efficient shower, very noisy air conditioning, ill fitting entrance door allowing no protection from external noise, too far away from the resort centre, only 2 english channels on the TV.
Overall disappointing but I did only pay £330 for a week AI so as the saying goes - you get what you pay for.

“Beautiful Weather”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

Hotel complex is massive, and very well kept from the outside. Rooms are a bit dated, but cleaned every day. Be aware all cleaners are men, no women seems to work in the hotel, so don`t wonder if you see a man coming out from the ladies toilet, as this would be the cleaner lol
Food was ok, plenty of choice as there are about 5 different restaurants. Lunch at international buffet was best, but we only found this the last 2 days of our holiday. Me and my husband have never been to Egypt before so it was a bit of a culture shock to start with. You get alot of hassle around the main pool.. but there are hassle free pools also. You just need to walk around and spot the best place for you. Best experience we had when we went quad biking. Abdul was our guide. He was a great guy, so different from the rest of the egyptian ppl. It was pleasure to enjoy yourself with no hassle to buy things lol. Animation team in the hotel was just great, full of energy. Games for everyone who want to participate. We just watched tho, but still enjoyed it all :) Ossama was our favourite waiter, always remembers what we drink and his english is spot on :) In general great place, beautiful weather, but different culture than ours, so if you are not very open minded wont advice you to have this experience lol
We had great time, met alot of nice people out there, maybe we will go back one day :)
