We have just come back from 2 fantastic weeks at the Coral Sea, (29th Jan-6th Feb) The weather was fantastic for this time of year and would return in a heart beat!!
Rooms - Ok so the rooms are a little dated but immaculate, The cleaners come in everyday and do a fantastic job regardless of tips or not. The rooms are very large with a huge balcony and are always kept cool. In the afternoons if you fancy chilling in the room and going out later there is a TV that has 3 or 4 different channels showing english movies so there is always something to watch. The beds are huuuuuuggggeeeee! quite firm though, all in all the rooms are very comfortable.
Pools & Beach - There are 2 big pools one of which is heated and is lovely with a swim up bar, the sunbeads are really comfortable with umbellas to shade if needed. This is also where the animation team are all day doing aerobics, streching, games etc...The second pool is so cold you would run the risk of hypothermia for a swim, but having said that some brave souls did and lived to tell the tale. This pool is much quieter, and the annimation team will leave you in peace. The beach is stunning with comfortable beds and windbreakers, there is a beach bar there too, the sea is clear and you can go out very far before it even passes your knees. There is a lovely long pier where you can walk along and see many fish. You will also see the diving school near here and Arron waves excuesions who we didn't use but i'm told are very cheap.
Resturants - The main thing i have to say about Coral Sea is the food is amazing! The buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner has something for everybody every night is a different cuisine, Italian, Chinese, Egyptian etc... there is also a italian and indian resturant which you can visit (1 visit per week per person per resturant) we only tried the italian which i have to say was ok but not as good as the buffet. There is also the Mermaid resturant which serves luches up untill 4pm this is by the beach and is really nice it's burgers, grilled chicken, salad, cakes etc...we visited the mermaid quite alot, you can also get teas & coffee's all day here. Then at 4.30pm till round 5.30pm ish they do afternoon tea which is teas, coffee's, rolls and cakes which is really nice if you have an early lunch.
Bars - First... The draught beer is nice but very weak, if possible ask them for bottled which is eygpian stella which is alot nicer and stronger!! There pool and beach bars all serve bottled beer. There are a few bars you can visit, there is the lobby bar where you can sit in or out the beers and cocktails are nice but from me it lacks in atmosphere, There is also finlay's bar which is were they have all the entertaiment comedy shows, singing, dancing etc... this is a fun place to go but quite loud at times. The day time bars are very good as said earlier there are to bars one at each pool half swim up, and there is also the beach bar (and also all the resturants) i would say the evening bars are the only area that lets the Coral Sea down slightly, we spent most of our time in the Bedouin Tent.
Bedouin Tent - This was the highlight of our holiday ABDUL who runs it is a legend!!! We had so much fun at night here and the shisha was fab, so much so we brought our own pipe home :-) Also Abduls 2 resident camels Bobby & Marley are lovely. Abdul and his friend Bob made our holiday, BOB has his own shop in the court yard which sells all you holiday gifts picture frames, ornaments, pictures (stunning) trinkets etc... Bob is such a lovely guy and very genuine if you need any info about where to go etc.. talk to Bob he's always happy the help. BOB & ABDUL ARE TRUE ASSETS TO THE CORAL SEA RESORT!!
Money - There was roughly 10 Eygpian pounds to English £1, We just took english money as there is a machine in the lobby which will change it for you, that way you can change small amounts at a time as when your in the resort everything is all inclusive so you will only need for tipping or if you need to buy supplies etc.. If you pay in english pounds with First Choice for any excursions you get a better exchange rate. English pound will be excepted anywhere you go in Sharm.
Excusions - We went to the Dessert safari which was quad biking, camel riding and bbq and shisha moking at the bedouin tents all in the dessert which was fantastic £50 each and i highly recommend this. We also went to the old market where you get all your bargins... I personally wouldn't go here again it's very in your face and you get harrassed but it's kind of a real taste of eygpt and the was the locals live, all i would say is make sure you haggle, haggle and haggle some more.....oh and don't buy the DVD's they were only £2 each so though we'd have a punt (didn't expect much) but they are totally unwatchable :-)
All in, we had a fantastic time and will definatly be going back, so i hope you enjoy your hols!!! Feel free to email me with any questions, i'll be happy to help :-)
