“Best time ever”

Resta Hotel is a god send for a chill out session, the staff Abdo and Karim, Hesham and Mostafa from the bar, just a few as there is to many to mention are just great guys who cant do enough for you. The food is not perfect every day but always something to eat as they cater for other guests eg Russians, French, German, Italian, Egyptian and so on. The bed was great to sleep in with animals made from towels everyday which was funny, the shower hot and clean towels daily. Great atmosphere around the pool as they were not a lot of guests due to the civil unrest in Cairo but i felt very safe and can’t wait to return to the same hotel, Don’t know why people give it a bad review as its great and i never seen any mice dirty towels or had staff rummaging through my case like another reviewer had to say, shame if they didn’t enjoy it. What can i say, it was perfect and enjoyable

Room Tip: Ask for pool view and also upstairs as their less chance of being bitten by mosquitos, keep the air...

fantastic if you like food poisoning, drinking out off dirty glasses, filthy hotel room, drying yourself with poo stained towel.1st meal i ate gave me bad food poisoning then we ate bread for the remianing holiday. we moved rooms 3times not that it mattered 1st room bathroom was out of this world the toilet i have seen cleaner on filth fighters.the staff cleaners seem to think it is ok to have a good rummage in your bags.2nd room had mice not just the odd one but like a bloody army of mice.most of us that stayed in the hotel was very sick and we couldnt get home quick enough.safty in numbers if you no what i meen outside hotel.i am blonde the people in the street kept grabbing me and trying to get me in shops wont take no for an answer very scarey.young couple we met went to narmabay and they went in a shop because he woulndt take no for a answer just to shut him up then 4 of them looked the door and pulled a knife on him.obviosly he gave them everything he had so they could get out safely.it was one crazy experience but one i would not like to experience AGAIN.

“only good thing was the staff”

whole experience of egypt was awful. the pool was so cold u needed a wet suit to get in, food was terrible, all spirits tasted the same, wine only available at food times not that it was drinkable ne way. constantly hastled at the pool by people selling news papers, massages and promoting dodgy shops. room was small, bathroom dirty and toilet seat broken. the only good points were the bed was comfy and the shower hot. will not be returning ever.

“Great holiday, fantastic hotel staff.”

The hotel is clean and has a very friendly team of staff.
There is a varied choice of breakfasts everyday, at lunch there is the choice of pasta cooked to order as well as other hot food options, salads, soup and dessert. The food is quite basic but very tasty.
Dinner is simular to the lunch buffet but no pasta cooked to order. It varies from night to night as to what is cooked to order, chicken wings and several local dishes.
The room was clean and a good size. Housekeeping changed towel daily and bedding at least twice a week. The towel decorations are very clever and pretty.
The hotel staff were great, they couldn't do enough for you. The chefs even made me a birthday cake and the waiters and chefs danced and sang happy birthday in Egyptian. (A birthday dinner to remember)
The hotel was very quiet at the time of our stay, mostly due to the things going on in Cairo.
The down side to The Resta is that if you venture out of the hotel you get hit by a lot of local shop keepers after your trade. They will invite you in to there shops and then close the door behind you, they can talk the hind legs off a donkey and sell snow to the Eskimos.
The hotel beach is a 10 minute drive (free bus runs daily) or 20 minute walk from the hotel and is in a quiet bay, not many coral reefs but still enjoyable to snorkel from and lots of different fish to be seen.
Other than the hassle from the small local shops the hotel and holiday were very enjoyable. I would return to Sharm el sheikh again, but would be aware of the hassle.

Unfortunately the climate in Cairo has had a knock on effect at Sharm el Sheik with very few tourists.
There were only between 21 and 35 guests at the Resta during our stay.We were like a family British,Russian and honeymooners from Cairo. Some had been there for 3rd time in 12 months, which says a lot. It would be impossible to name all the staff who gave excellent service from the chefs/bar/dining room/reception, day and night staff. The night staff always made sure that a breakfast box was available when we left on tours and made snacks when we had a late return. The food was adequate and we found something we liked every day. Our room overlooked the pool (because they only had few guests we got an upgrade). The bedroom was spacious with plenty of hanging space and drawers. There is no coffee/tea making facilities in the room therefore we took hot & cold drinks to our room. The main comment I made to the Management was that our shower was in desperate need of refurbishing. Linen was changed daily and some form of display/model appeared daily on our beds.We have slept in 8 different hotels this year but it was here that we got the most comfortable beds. The cleaning was of a high standard.
Ivan has a shop on site selling all sorts you might require and more, he welcomes people popping in for a chat, do not accept his first price.
Our hotel rep. was from Tarrottours I will post a warning report.
We would recommend vova sharm for all tours, see my report, the owner Wael is building a new web site so there could be some conflict in the interim. He has several offices and can usually be found in the one near the waterfall and artificial cliffs in the Old Town - this is an excellent place to visit with less hassle than Naam Bay and is open till midnight. He and Anna do hotel visits.
We saw nothing but warm welcoming smiles with most traders wanting to have a chat hoping it would turn into a sale. We felt safe at all times, local reports indicate that Naam Bay does not always enjoy this.
We will return.

Room Tip: Pool view rooms in blocks 5,6,7 & 8 get the most morning sun. 4,5,6,7,8 get afternoon sun but no...
