“A small hotel ... but who cares?”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2011

There are several reasons why I definitely will return to the Lotus Bay next holidays:

1) No insect in the hotel. (staff knows how to maintain - you will see at 18:30, but after 10 minutes of stink you will be happy for all the night & day ).

2) Compared to the other Safaga hotels, capacity is limited, but I am searching for quiet place with limited number of people. Aren't you?

3) Compared to other Safaga hotels, Lotus Bay has really wide beach full of lovely palms. They give you an opportunity to forget about the other people on the beach.

4) Friendly & familiar staff gives you a feeling you are not paying for your stay, you are just invited.

5) Yes, the animation timetable was limited: Aquagym + Volleyball + Disco. But my body was tired after 2 days anyway ;-)

6) Safaga universal meeting point is called "YASMINE Internet Caffee". Where is it? In front of Lotus Bay!! Cool, you can just sit there and take 3 cups before your friends get out of their hotels "somewhere deep in desert". :-)

“Nice, quiet resort with diving centre nearby”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 June 2011

We stayed in Lotus Bay to relax and hang-out, not to party. The animation programme was limited so if you look for big-time party you may want to go somewhere else. The hotel is nice and clean and the staff is mostly friendly, except on the last day when the all-inclusive ended at noon and they refused to give us any drinks at one minute after noon which was a bit disappointing. There were not many guests when we visited, which we didn't mind at all. The pool is large and I used it for swimming a lot. The food was ok but average I would say. The diving centre next door is very nice, we went for a day drip with them and enjoyed it a lot.

“We enjoyed our stay here!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 December 2010

We just got back from 2 weeks family holiday. We were in "Lotus Bay Safaga" from 21 November up to 3 Desember 2010. In general no bad.

I arranged my trip throught Travel Agency 'TEZ TOUR'and paid abt 2300 $ US (board basis of the hotel - All Inclusive).

STAFF: thry were lovely, smiling, polite and helpful, any beach-team-boys were fond of a joke.
Unfortunately I badly speak English, know no much words and no good understund oral speach beacouse I have no much practise.
But when I have any problems (left the key inside the room or something like that) they were forbear, waiting when I'll find needed words, repited sentance by sentance if I didn't understand what was said...

ROOM: at first we accommodated on a ground floor. Our room have a privat area behind balcony door. On this area there were a small table and some wicker

armchairs. It was very beautiful but it was a little uncomfortable because sometimes somebody walks around on garden foot-path. We change room for second

floor. On the balcony was a table and chairs too but we fill ourself a bit more private.
Rooms was quite cosy and clean, service was OK. Sometimes after make up we found out flowers on our bed, or others pleasant small items.

FOOD: the food is rather poor, no large choice but we never had an upset stomach, wasn't ill and always found out something tasty :)
as usual was 2..3 kind of meat dishes, cutting vegetables - tomato, sweet pepper, cucumbers, cabbage, a couple of sort on side: potatoes, pasta, vegetables

cooked in a sauce, a lot of things for tea/coffe: any cakes, buns, pie and so on. Fruits: melon, dates (i mean date-palm fruit). Eggs in the morning (omelet

or just fried). There was no dress code at the entrance, I hadn't to dress up to go to dinner.
Basically I can't to say that meals was very good but it perfectly suit us.

BEACH: the beach is good for swiming and snorkeling. Sea is really like aquarium: smoothly lower pure sandy bottom with beautiful colourful corals and tropical fishes. There are PADI-diving center and activities on the beach. Only one item disappointed - a lot of boats, yachts aroud there, in the water there are anchor buoys... :(

Rather much people, included us, meet sunrise at the beach, therefore chaise-longues are occupied very early. You have to place a towel at about six in the morning on a chaise-longue if you want to lie on it.

POOL: the swimming pool rather chilly in November, the sea was warmer! but in the afternoon I was swemming with greatest pleasure!

EXCURSION: we have been in Luxor (75$ per head) , El Gouna (50$) including open sea boat trip, fishing & snorkling.

HOTEL: very nice no frill hotel. Not expensive, great value for money. Mostly german and russian people in the hotel, a little italian and french.
Nice big garden. Hotel's area looks nicely and rather large, there was place for walking, it's possible walking around next door hotels.
But pay attention: there is nothing outside hotels, only some shops and dirty street, rubbish and sand.
There are 2 pool bars and bar at the beach near serf club which working till midnight. All Inclusive included beer, local rum, gin, whisky. In the evening I

prefered rum & sprite cocktail at 'chillout' - so local guys call the relax place where visitors are lying at a low table and smoking 'shisha' (hooka).
Evening animation show - nonsense. Dislike. There is not really much nigthlife. we as usual spent time in the evening at serf bar.

COMMUNICATION: it wasn't possible to make an international call from my room!! Only from receptin. I bought SIM-card for cell-phone from TEZ-TOUR

representative (30$ included 23 minutes for call to Russia )

I had no troubles with anyone. We enjoyed our stay here.

“mixed feelings”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 December 2008

We were on a group vacation in Egypt and the last stop was at the Red Sea in this hotel. I would never have stayed here if I had booked ourselves. It is quite a cheap hotel and there are a lot of groups. It is good for the beach and snorkeling/diving. The rooms are clean but very bare. They try to keep the gardens nice with flowers etc. The food was not good. The restaurant felt like eating in a not very nice cafeteria. Some of the waiters were obviously fed up with all the tourists and not very polite.
So what we liked: the beach, clean rooms, quiet. The snorkeling and diving. The children enjoyed the pool and table tennis room.
What we did not like: the food, the swimming pool in winter is not heated and nobody was swmimming in it ( the ocean was warmer!). There is nothing to do around the hotel. Some shops but that is all.

  • Liked — the hotel is on the beach
  • Disliked — the food and atmosphere of restaurant
