“WINE AFTER DINNER”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

people found this review helpful

Had a very good holiday last Feb 2011.
Everything really good except the silly rule about wine after dinner.
Several reviews mention the fact that a lot of visitors do NOT like
spirits or fizzy drinks after dinner.....where is the logic of this...!!!
Also the standard reply given to each review by the hotel is a joke
and definitely not helpful.!

“Christmas In Nuweiba”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 January 2012

Spent a fantastic Christmas at this wonderful hotel. My 2 young boys were spoiled rotten and fussed over each day. My dad relaxed with his book on the beach. The food was great and the drinks were fine. An idyllic setting. The Lionfish at the end of the pier amazed the kids each night. Moo kept the children busy on the beach and at the kids disco. I was able to unwind and all of us had a great time. The Christmas Banquet was magnificent and a lot of hard work had gone into the creation of the food - well done to Chef Ramsay. I will definitely visit again.

“Zumba land”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 December 2011

We have had 2 weeks' all inclusive holiday travelling with Longwood , we went with them to Hurgarda last year, this was a very different location very quiet and less commercial - Russell has done the job for some time and is clearly very competent and knowledgeable about a great deal, he was always present when expected and provided under door notes if his times were changed from that agreed.. The Monarch flight was passable- but no 'movies' or 'music' and transfer (shame both in the dark) OK, - and check in etc was fine getting in at 23 45 . There were rolls and fruit in the room - the general opinion is that the jury is still out on the recent changing to a Saturdays flight late and late both ways, but we had no problems.
Building 3 is by far the quieter and further from the main area with good views of the garden (and just about the sea) on the first and second floor (can we have a handrail from the ground to first floor at the end stairs please - as my wife got brick dust on her hands every day). There are views at the back to Saudi across the 'Solent' and the sunrise pin points through the spyhole through the door every morning - but bear in mind 'old matey' sounds at sunrise.

The rooms were very good in fact the bed was large and with 2 pillows and off the ground, unlike what we generally get. These had been clearly renovated and redecorated, with the bath taken out and a double shower put in. The room was cleaned out every day by our cleaner who was very efficient and produced a series of designs most days with the towels - including additional items from the garden and the room. The connecting door (locked) to the next room could be better insulated as next door's TV could be heard sometimes early and late - some people rise very early as the sun seems stronger in the morning . It is good that the safe is in the room, so no trail to reception , but bear in mind there is an error on the instruction in English, buttons A and B are where you think they are but the writing is worn off so think it through before using it for the firsts time - reception were very helpful when I froze it at 00 30 !!

We had asked for a kettle and they provided two cups, coffee and tea each day.

The gardens are very good and the brochures do not do them justice, basically it is an oasis in the surrounding desert area so it attracts birds, we saw over 35 different types; but then I am a bird watcher. We enjoyed the egrets and bulbuls and the resident gyr falcon chasing sparrows. We never saw anyone use the croquet lawn, the only part of the hotel I would describe as tired is the crazy golf course.

The blue blue restaurant was fine, with some subdued lighting in locations and with settees and larger tables for groups, the staff were very good at providing you with a place and drinks and you would often get them/ refilled without asking - there is a 'rose' wine as well. The food was very consistent/ rather than exceptional - there was never an day where there was nothing of interest or something we left, certainly no spicy food, and always a bbq of something outside which the poor chef had to stand for.

The Italian lunch restaurant was very good, expecting plastic tables , we were pleased with the linen table cloths and serviettes and pizza made to order, but it could be slow.
The hotel has a long beach so the sunbeds and parasols are uncluttered, it is generally sand with a bit of shingle most people did not wear beach shoes - we did, there are no vendors so no hassle - you can do basic Aqua sports/ massage.

The Aquarobics in the morning are legendary, in the sea or some are on the pier, this is when the music gets turned up for an hour, but at other times it is quiet. The two pools are not used as much as they could as it was winter and thus not heated but the outside tables at the main pool, gave it a village square atmosphere particularly for the evening entertainment.

The pier into the sea is a good feature and at night lights underneath show the fish illuminated, you get good views at dusk and see the port about a half a mile to the right ; there are about 3 ferries of differing types a day - a pilot vessel and tug meet them so you know when they will come.

t sunset it gets dark quickly and the temperature drops as people go quickly to their rooms ( and avoid the lawn mowers at dusk .......) there are 36 channels but Fox Movies and BBC World stand out, there was an MP3 player and radio but we could get no local stations.
The entertainment was OK - but comprised the same children s disco and house singer from 0830 to 10.00 - if you ate late then you could sit down for the main acts which were very good. No matter how many times we saw the 'Spinnerman' this was the best of all, the dancers also were good with plenty of costume changes , however we never knew exactly if and when they would appear, the first week was a local holiday there was plenty but the next had some nights where there was with nothing after ten.

There are about 6 shops on site, each one sells different things, probably expensive but no real grief, there is a small shop by the disco (never open).

There were a few trips, but we stayed in - but the St Catherine' s monastery was good being near and very interesting. All in all a very good choice and a possible return in the future as do many of the Brits we saw .The staff we very good and we thank Samy (restaurant), and the four/five Mohamed’s (bar/reception/reception /bar) Moo (animation) and the Spinnerman.

“Just back - 5th visit”

Just back from the Coral Hilton - staff and hotel as great as ever - weather fabulous for time of year...sun went around 4PM but had plenty of sun before then.

Met many regulars from previous visits and Brits had our own Remembrance Day service as before on Nov 11...

Walked to the Port as usual - note than Antinal costs LE10 for a pack of 20 at the Port Farmacies - did not need ,but buy for insurance...the big plastic tentlike bazaar in the middle of the Port road has some good prices for clothes and shoes!

Samy,Zein, Wagdy, Ashraf Younis, Mostafa, Wesam,Rabia,Ayman the various Mohameds and Helmy...magical service and friendship, IT man fixed Marys sunglasses (Thanks!)...Natalia efficient and helpful- sorted a small laundry problem in minutes and enjoyed chatting to her at the beach bar.

I had read comments that the food was catering for East Europeans - saw NO change from previous visits and regret that I have added an inch around the waist...had fun with some Russians and Czech Republic guests...communication not easy but a smile goes a long way!

Hope to return early next year - Insh'Allah...

Mary and Matt.
