After reading a lot of horrible reviews of this place, I was pleasantly surprised. Firstly, I would like to say that for the price of the hotel stay, you are more than basically accommodated. If you want a stocked minifridge and brand new bedding, then pay three times the price and go to the Hilton. Firstly, I'll say that the staff was very pleasant and friendly, always with advice about a nice nearby restaurant or pricing for cab rides. The spa staff were especially friendly and we really enjoyed our 2-hour long spa and massage treatment (50€ each!). The cleanliness was acceptable, though not fantastic, but there seemed to be someone always cleaning something or fixing up something, so it's not for lack of effort. Do bring earplugs to sleep because the DJ will play late into the night and I think the sound travels in the courtyard quite a while.
As for the food from the buffet, I'll agree, it's not great, but it's not bad either. Every morning there was a chef making crepes fresh for the guests, made to order omelets right in front of you and a few varieties of hot options (e.g. french toast and potatoes) a salad buffet with fruit (mainly grapefruit and melon) and dozens of types of pastries and bread (though sometimes a bit stale). So I don't know why others had such a bad experience with that. The dinner buffet we visited only once, and for the price, there are better places to go and eat, e.g. the italian restaurant in the inner courtyard of the hotel, in which they make their own pasta etc.
On Christmas, we were invited with all of the other guests to a free buffet organized in the lobby of the hotel, with a huge assortment of delicacies and desserts and aftwards a free bellydance and beduin folkdance show. That was completely unexpected and really nice. Just be sensible and don't go trying the sushi in a place like Egypt. Really, common sense with foods to try and not will go a long way.
To get to the beach, you must walk to it's sister hotel, Triton Beach, which is about 2 blocks away. Not a bad walk, but be prepared to be bombarded by street vendors and do make sure to dress appropriately. I found that people were very nice to me because I tended not go out baring my legs and arms, and (unfortunately like many other tourists) busts, which is just asking for trouble. I'm all for women's rights and yes, you should be able to wear what you want, but keep in mind that you should respect other cultures when abroad. You are on their turf, not vice versa.
Anyway, the main point of this rating was that you should not worry about this hotel at all! Buy your own bottles of water from the mini-mart across the street and keep it in the fridge. 1 5-liter bottle costs about 10LE (or 1.5 €) so no problem! Enjoy your stay in this hotel. The hotel has only 3 stars but by the effort we saw, I'd say they are going for a fourth!
Room Tip: Pool side balconies will get a lot of noise from the DJ
